first off let me say im a massive fan of mike, with the exception of the rocky films he was the reason i got into boxing, but i just wanted to get your opinions on what you think was the worst beating/most damaging loss mike suffered in his career, although some of his losses clearly werent as damaging as others ive listed all of his legit losses.your thoughts?

Thats just what we need. Another Tyson thread.

His heaviest defeat was obviously at the hands of Lennox Lewis. It was a beating whereby one of the heaviest hitters of all time teed off on him for several rounds. Tyson's career was over way before this point though.

Definitely Douglas. That took away his aura of invincibility. All those post prison losses were not even close to the Douglas loss. That is argueably one of the greatest sports upsets in history. Douglas was a 42-1 underdog I believe. Tyson also took a bigger beating in the Douglas fight than any of the other fights.

Mike's biggest lost was the second Holyfield fight with the whole ear biting incident. In my opinion it was disapointting to see a fighter as scary as Mike was take the easy way out. It marked the downfall of his career

Apart from the first rd, Lewis actually beat the **** out of him.

Williams and McBride were like watching WWF and i don't consider as proper fights when dissecting them in my memory of Mike. The Douglas fight Mike almost beat at certain stages and Holyfield 1 was close for most of the fight as well. Holy 2 fight was a circus.

My answer is Lewis (especially with "i'm going to eat ur children" comment)

The thread starter isn't really clear with his question. If you mean damaging for his career then it's probably Douglas but damaging in terms of the beating he took then it has to be Lennox Lewis. It was a terribly one sided beating in the end.

no doubt,it seemed a black cloud followed him from that night on,every fight after that there was always a feeling of what might he do next so i agree with you m8,but what do you think the worst legit in ring loss he suffered was?

    Lewis.

    Got absolutely dominated.

And it was against a fellow ATG and despite people saying he was past it, a lot of people backed him to win that fight and for him to get beat up so badly ended up being quite damning.

i tried not define it too much so it could be left open to your own personal interpretation which is why i put most damaging/worst beating.

Nah it's cool I wasn't having a pop. I think Lewis because it was a one sided, heavy handed beating. Tyson was clearly distressed between rounds, it was quite sad really.

no problem m8 i was just tryin to clear it up for you,i agree i think it was lewis because it was such a brutal one sided beating&also because if it hadnt been so one sided then mike with his noteriety&pulling power would have still been in the top tier of the division&would have no doubt had a title shot when lennox retired, but because it was so one sided it ended his career as as a contender/challenger.

i also think mike redeemed himself to an extent with the heart&guts he showed in the lewis fight.he could have taken a short cut but he took his beating like a true warrior.

Each one of the beat downs was really bad for Tyson, but all were good to see. Douglas brought Tyson (and his army of fans) down to earth, and Holyfield made sure he stayed there.
The Lewis drubbing was my personal favourite, and saw Tyson eat the most leather.
The thumping he took from Danny Williams must have been quite humiliating, seeing as Danny was chosen especially to fall over early.
The final beat down against Mcbride must have been quite a low moment too. Mcbride was a step down from Williams, and he was chosen for his lack of punch resistance. When he couldn't even put a dent in the guy and just gave up, it proved that the "bad knee" excuse used for the Williams loss was a load of old bollocks.
