What fight is the fight that cemented Tysons legacy (or should have)

Most of the time, you hear "Tyson lost all his biggest fights"

So the question is, what was the fight that should have cemented his legacy?

His biggest fight was Spinks and he won it. The way in which he won it has made everyone think it was a worthless fight

Exactly, it would've been better if Spinks had lasted 5 rounds or so, then maybe people wouldn't downgrade the win to "worthless".

In this post-fight interview, Mike explains perfectly why Spinks didn't survive long:

  4. michael spinks in 1988 would be defeated by every hw legend.

His fight with Pinklon Thomas was his most quality, legacy defining fight...much more so than the quick snuff-out against the petrified Michael Spinks.

Ive always felt it was the Spinks fight too, he cemented his legacy. He was the undefeated, undisputed champ and he just beat his no1 contender in 91 seconds. A lot of people picked SPinks to beat Tyson, including Ali

I feel Lewis came a little later (even though theyre the same age)

    I can see why
But Thomas isnt really much of a name, im talking more of fellow ATGs.

Which one put Tyson the map (or should have)?

It really should've been Tucker, but Spinks ducked Tucker in '87.

Later, Old Foreman would duck Tucker in '95.

Tony Tucker would've won both of those fights imo, & thus would've been an ATG, 2 time Linear Champ.

Tucker is a guy im disappointed with, he could have been so much more, when you watch his fight with Tyson. He was big, strong, mobile, good chin, good boxer....what went wrong

Im not sure Tucker could beat Spinks. If Tyson would have defeated Holyfield in 91 Spinks still would have been his defining fight. Holyfield was a contender who was less proven than Spinks as a heavyweight.

I think it's very wrong to scrutinise this win because Spinks was scared.

True, but looking at it back now
do u believe a win over Spinks weighs more than a win over Holyfield?

If Tyson did beat Holy in 96, all we would hear was Holy was old etc, Tysons never beaten anyone decent etc etc
