Bill Daly and Al Braverman both protested to Jay Edson at the fight's conclusion and in the days after the fight, appealing to the Japan Boxing Commission for a nullification of the result. Furthermore, both had brought up Foreman's shoving tactics in the rules meeting with Edson days before the fight, something George did in the first round. The Japan Boxing Commission was new to big time heavyweight fights and wasn't going to do anything about it. The WBC and WBA also weren't going upset their applecart. George, for his part, offered a rematch to Roman. There was a controversy in so far as George clearly broke the rules, but it gained little steam because the fight was a mismatch all the way.

You again don't know what you are writing about. Corner protests are a dime a dozen. There was no controversy concerning the Foreman Roman fight. You're the kid who thought Kovalev would beat Dempsey and Marciano so what should we expect from you?

You've been caught again not knowing your facts. It's becoming routine. At least you are consistent. I'll give you that.

Tyson was a precision puncher and lightning fast, he didn't hit as hard as Foreman but the saying "it's the punch that you don't see that knocks you out." rings true. Foreman had the kind of power that you could see them coming and prepare yourself yet you're still getting knocked out. I've read from various Tyson opponents that his power wasn't the greatest, it was his speed.

Think of it like getting shot at stood behind a wall, Tyson's punches were like bullets. The bullet would put a little hole through the wall but if it hits you in the right place it will kill you.

Foreman was firing cannon balls, his punches would knockdown the entire wall and destroy whatever is behind it.

Both will achieve the same goal but one needs the speed and accuracy to get the results, the other just needs a target to land on.

Crawl back into your hole little man. You know as much about Foreman Roman as you do every other boxing related topic which is not much. Kovalev beats Dempsey and Marciano huh?

I'm going to and my two cents. The interesting thing about Tyson, was that he had trememdous power in BOTH hands. His right cross was just as good as his left hook and he was equally devastating with both left and right uppercuts. There have been lots of great power punching heavyweights, but usually its always favoring one hand like Cooney's left hook or Shaver's right cross etc. I don't think Tyson had a favorite punch, it was just a matter of which one he could nail you with that mattered.

C'mon, boxers almost always get modest when they are talking about inter-generational fights when they've got nothing left to prove.

You can't use that as evidence, in this clip Ali is asked the question, he points to Tyson, then Tyson shakes his hands and says Ali is the best ever.

Then Tyson says "guys like Foreman and Shavers hit much harder than me".

The bottom line is, they're having a nice cozy chat, and they're all trying to appear affable to the audience at home.

The same can be said for Foreman, both had knockout power with either hand.

The Ali Foreman fight lasted less than 8 rounds!
After the Tyson v Douglas fight Ali said," does anyone still want to know how I would do against Tyson?"

Foreman hitting Roman whilst he was on one knee is ,and was controversial.

    https://news.google.com/newspapers?...AAIBAJ&sjid=VTgHAAAAIBAJ&pg=2363,585869&hl=en

"Roman went down, but Referee Jay Edson ruled it was not a knockdown. However, Foreman hit Roman with a right to the jaw while he was down. Roman's manager, Bill Daly, and trainer, Al Braverman, immediately climbed onto the ring apron and protested to Edson, who said Foreman didn't do anything illegal. He said Foreman was just following through with his punches. Foreman denied it was an intentional punch. Edson said he did not give Roman, who was down for less than 10 seconds, any additional time to recover because the punch was losing force as he went down, and Roman said he was okay when he got up. Several seconds after the fight resumed, Foreman dropped Roman with a right to the chin. Roman was able to get up, but a right uppercut put him down again. He was counted out two minutes into the fight."

    Calling posters amateurs!
If you knew a quarter about boxing as you clearly think you do, you would be Ray Arcel and Eddie Futch rolled into one!

    It was a bad foul.
A relative lack of controversy over the bad foul would probably be due to the fact that Roman had no business being in the ring with Foreman for the championship anyway.

Foreman punched like had weights in his hands real heavy with just enough snap

Tyson was fast and crisp and threw his punches with serious torque

Chuvalo describe the power best when he said Foreman's power was like a Cadillac hitting you at 50 mph and Frazier was like a Buick at 100 mph.....I suspect Tyson is in between

So Foreman figured he could discard the rules because of that?

    BTW

The press said that there had been some talk from Roman that Foreman didn't like before the fight which made him extra angry and made him foul. Strange since all the trash talking that Ali did and which had Foreman upset prior to the fight didn't motivate him to foul Ali.
