Tysons Punching Power vs Foremans power

People dont realize its not JUST the power but how he landed them with MUCH better technique and speed.Ali had room to prepare for impact against Foremans wide slugging shots ,with Tyson he wouldnt know what hit him with that wide open defense that Tyson would find easily to get through.In fans minds Ali would just DANCE around the ring? Maybe in fantasy land but a VERY motivated Tyson would cut that ring off before rnd 4 hit and would go in on him just like Holmes.

Ali also didnt get hit with many flush shots to the head against foreman and thats bc he was very predictable. You didnt know what punch Tyson was going to throw or at what stance .

Who hits harder? Tysons sit down on his shots do.............speed is or can add to power you dont detract that from the equation.

Who has more blunt power? foreman ,hes heavier handed.

 

True about Tyson's speed and greater unpredictability. But Ali wasn't avoiding all of Foreman's shots or even minimizing their power via anticipating them. He was just lying on the ropes absorbing punishment to the body and sometimes flush to the head.

 

Foreman only landed 20 clean punches..in rnd one most grazed or were body shots.Of course he minimized the power bc he saw them coming and leaning on the ropes he was able to roll with most of them too,had Foreman take steps back and actually calculated when to throw them instead of forcing them?

 

Punching power with Heavyweight's involves many variables. Freddie Roach said
Wladimir Klitschko had incredible raw power and this makes sense from his size
and excellent technique.
Tyson power came from his explosive speed and timing and his murderous intent
with his punches. Foreman punches for a HW were clubbing arm punches and
relatively slow but his incredible natural size and strength gave him concussive power.
Foreman also got great leverage on his punches and this can partly be attributed
to his trainer Archie Moore ( true ko artist 145 ko ) Archie taught Foreman how
to put incredible leverage and thus power on his punches.
This is evident in his huge looping punches that destroyed Frazier and Norton.

 

I think there's maybe a minor contradiction in here Jup - early on you describe Foremans punches as arm punches but then say he got great leverage. Arm punches by definition are thrown without leverage, or much of it.

 

well thats accumulative punching.Frazier not that hard to figure out either ,but he had an engine on him ,foreman took all his energry out of himself with every power shot that didnt land cleanly or missed.

 

Joe Louis is what happens when you have Foreman like power (slightly less), with hand speed and more technical attack.

 

Holyfield said the hardest he'd ever been hit was by a 42 year old George Foreman.

Holyfield always says Foreman hit him the hardest in every interview. He asked his corner if his teeth were intact after taking a big punch from Foreman.

 

Kovalev didn't even like Wards body shots, id hate to see what Dempsey would do to him.
