its all academic. Both hit hard enough to render the opposition unconscious, or at least to a 10 count. Thats all ya need.

I agree that would even it up, but he would need another 6 inches of height to make that added weight effective.Tyson could do it because he had explosive speed, Marciano did not.

Not really, he would have still had the God given gift of brutal punching power. Name me any fighter that has lost his punch power by gaining weight?

When guys move up they are hitting naturally bigger foes so their power often has less impact than it did in a lower division. Examples are Michael Spinks, Michael Moorer.

I doubt Marciano could carry 220 lbs. Even if he did, it's unlikely his power would make a dent in natural 220 lb. guys. And if he stayed at his natural weight and fought 220 lb. guys he'd get outmuscled and overpowered.

    He was a Cruiserweight.

That doesn't mean they hit less hard though does It? Marciano had the power to put 200lb+ fighters lights out.

I love you, you want to get married. Lol you are one of the few people who can understand that Marciano was a Cruiserweight by modern standards. If he could weigh 220 pounds for a bout he would of did it . Guess what? The opponents he fought were still Super middleweights, Light heavyweights and Cruiserweights by modern standards.

Marciano couldn't even beat average 205 plus pound heavyweights. Guys like Shannon Briggs or Martin would destroy him with their size.

Anyway Mike Tyson himself thinks Foreman was a bigger puncher than he was. Tyson used technique and speed. Foreman just used raw power. Foreman never got leverage and his weight into his punches. He never got snap in his punches either or he would of been a even bigger puncher.

Of course he can gain 40lb.
How many boxers in the past have done it?

    Toney gained 100
Rocky had plenty of room to grow if he was just looking to increase his weight.

Golovkin beat Andy Juiz Jr in a half play half serious wrestling match. Elite level strength and power is no joke. Dempsey and Louis folded SHWs like beach chairs. Rocky is from that cloth.

How do you know that only explosive speed evens out a height advantage?

    That's silly talk.

By the way, compared to the guys Tyson was fighting, Rocky was fast as hell. Constantly moving and shifting angles and throwing hard punches in bunches quick. Less explosive speed than Tyson of course, but far quicker than the SHWs

Why do we have to go by modern standards? Why can' t we compare him to standards from 2,000 years ago?

Agreed it would slow Rocky down more than he was already....also his stature needed as much flexibility as possible to make his stalking work with short arms....

Yes, he could put on the weight. But he wasn't a boxer like Toney. His style would not work at 220 lbs like it did at 190 lbs. if he was fighting natural 220 pounders. He was a slugger.
