Don't think I've ever really gotten anything approaching a conclusive answer on this one. Anyone know how much road work he did in the 80's when he was at his peak as a fighter? I've seen him lifting briefly in some videos. Did he lift pretty heavy and consistently? Did he change anything Post Prison? Did he train just about as hard but without the intangibles he had before? He always looked to be in good shape. Thicker all around, but never out of shape, really.
I've read Tyson would do 3-5 miles of roadwork early in the morning Tyson didn't start lifting until he went to jail from what I've read
in '88 he got up at 4 am jogged 4 miles went back and slept then got up and did training again then 3 miles at night
Also, I hear he would go 30 minutes or so (not sure) on the stationary bicycle at night. And his diet, aside from breakfast which was oatmeal, was steak, pasta, and fruit juice.
i watched a video on youtube of him talking in his prime describing his workout routine it was like a 15 min video but it ran through what he did daily....you can look for it but if you dont find it ill look tomorrow
Here's some training videos I found...hope these help a little:good [YT]cnwLEbFoBFs[/YT] [YT]u6zlaIl0yh0[/YT]
There's nothing harder to do than get out of bed that early to run, but when you're done, no feeling matches it.
I remember reading a quote by Tyson sometime in the 80's which went something like this: "I see these people getting high or drunk when I'm jogging and that pisses me off. I get so pissed off that they're wasting their lives I run an extra mile." The quote's not verbatim, but it's close. *Sigh* And the next thing you know...he's become like those people.
