From 99 and onwards Mike Tysons primary weapon became his straight right hand. It caused beatiful knockouts(Botha) knocked down, broke cheek bones and totally demoralised Golota. In fact the Golota fight was Tysons last great standing, when he returned in 01 against Nielsen, he had had his motorcyckle accident which hurt his back.
And in the end his powershots suffered from it..

Back to the thread, Kevin rooney said in an interview in september 01."Mike relies now too much on his right hand, all he has done lately is to wing that right with all he has...

Now my question, where does Tysons right hand power in all its might belong?
I mean ranked with guys like shavers, Lewis,Johanson, Baer etc....?

Near the top. That right hand is one of the hardest single shots in boxing history. A lot of peope rate Tyson because of his speed, his combinations, his aggression and his excellent head movement, but they often overlook his power.

Tyson's power was far more devastating than many naturally bigger and stronger guys, such as Lewis, Foreman, Briggs, Bruno, Shavers, Golota, Bowe and others. The fact that a man just under 6ft can hit harder than guys is a testament to just how deadly his right-hand actually was.

Tyson would land 2 or 3 huge power shots in the time, perhaps some of the few bigger hitters, would land one.

great post! Take a look at the right hand he nails Golota with and knocks him down. It broke his cheekbone and pushed muscles in his neck and back, which with more punishment could have paralyzed the Pole...
Notice how Tyson puts his entire frame into the shot, also a clear case of the importance legpower has..
With time I think people will notice how great a fighter Tyson was, and without a doubt the most devastating offensive heavyweight ever...

Tyson had a solid right hand. I Wouldn't rank it with that of Baer, Schmelling, Lewis, Shavers, or Louis as far as all time rights go. But I can't think of many guys who would want to be hit with it either.

Joe Louis was the greatest offensive fighter all time. Nobody threw combonations or finished his guy when hurt off like Louis. Tyson was a badass, Louis was a MONSTER. Foreman and Liston have to be mentioned also.
