the best thing about vince was that after that bout he went on to win another world title... (admittedly under weird events). but yher, he was old as ****in tree's when rick fought him and really he should have been pulled out i was afraid he was gonna end up in bits, to be fair though he had rick all over the place in the latter parts of the fight, certainly ricks hardest fight since the jon thaxton fight. Harris unfortuantly priced himself out of the fight and pretty much admitted it himself without any sports network bull**** :| Harris was offered training expenses, room board of him and team and half a million quid to come to the UK to fight rick. it wasnt enough so he went back and fought his next defense for less that 200k. :/ shame that. mind you ive never really thought harris was much cop.
Hatton beat the **** out of Phillips, Phillips took some serious punishment, but somehow lasted 12 rounds. Warren went to court to disprove that claim. His team of lawyers are probably watching you :nut
I will say what I ****ing want. I suppose he sends a team of lawyers to every sportsman's dinner where Terry Marsh is the guest speaker............
Demarcus Corley. He gave up his mandatory shot at him as FW knew what the result back then would have been.. Additionally back then Harris was known as a dangerous quantity and a slashing box puncher. Theres no way FW wanted Hatton in the ring with him. Seeing as Harris was the champ and did deserve a 70/30 split FW naturally argued the case that Hatton was the draw which was correct. Either way Harris didnt deserve the chump change being offered him as the champ.
Love the fight, but the way Merchant interviewd Tszyu was ****ed up. Merchant was asking Jim Grey type of questions
Back then definitly. When he was fresh and held the WBO he was an elusive slick southpaw with a spiteful dig and a very decent counter puncher. Over the years his been put in with some stiff opposition and turned into a journeyman. I recall him beating Randall Bailey in a very boring decision but back then Bailey was up and coming and known as a terrific puncher. He gave a young Cotto hell before Cotto KO`ed him. Back then 140 was stacked. But Hatton never partook against any of the names. He was stil defending the WBU according to FW`s will..
Some guys just have some guys numbers. Tsyu had trouble with Phillips, and wasn't ready for another loss in my opinion. But, its true, for some reason there is that one guy that gives problems for some reason. Norton was the guy that gave Ali the most trouble. Forest for Sugar Shane Mosley. These are the thorns in the sides of greats.
The fact that Corley is a southpaw alone would give him a chance of making Hatton look bad. But you forget that Hatton spent pretty much all his peak years blasting out bums - so nobody really knows how good he was, other than the fact that he knocked Tszyu off his perch. I suppose it could be said that he was one of the Alex Arthur types who spend too much time listening to their promoter instead of trying to further their career. Does Frankie really have lawyers looking at Boxrec threads - because if he has I will ****ing join :rofl
Yup. The mods have stickeys over there as there site can be sued for libel if theres defamatory information posted regarding Warren. The mans a ****.
