Whilst I agree, I'm sure the game will recover provided other fighters don't follow suit. With the Super 6 and the likes of Dawson and Pascal fighting over the weekend, there are other fighters and talents who can and will continue to move boxing forward.

i agree that this fight needs to happen, but floyd hasn't ruined the future of boxing, actually he might of helped the future of boxing. sport enhancements is an on growing problem in sports right now, and boxing didn't have the right drug tests to catch fighters out as theres no random drug tests, so now hopefully they'll introduce that.

Floyd hasn't ruined boxing. Nor can he.

I admit that he HURT boxing, by avoiding Pac. But no big damage really. Boxing as a sport will continue for a long time. Floyd will even be just a by-word and most will not even consider him ATG, since he's avoided the fights boxing fans wanted him to fight.

For real fans it won't be MMA it will be other divisions and other fights.

Point is, this fight is SO big that Mayweather will never be forgiven if it eventually never happens. It's red HOT right now, why wait till someone looks bad in a fight or loses for it to get cold?. I don't get the logic here really other than he simply doesn't want this fight. The money is better than EVER in this fight and no other fight comes close, the attraction is over the roof, the demand is getting out of hand(anywhere boxing is mentioned this fight is mentioned too) and whatever the hell I'm missing. What the hell is he doing? :patsch

I respect Mayweather, But if dude fell off the face of the planet today BOXING will shrug him off and roll on. So to say he has messed up the future is laughable to me.

Never thought I'll ever say I agree with you and I hate to but I have to here. He said he's not thinking of boxing only to be seen trying to recruit Cotto and watching the Alexander/Kotelnik fight. And when asked why the negotiations broke down he said "No comment". Can't get more obvious than this.

It will hurt boxing if he's not there. Who else is there to make a megafight with Pac?, no one. There's a reason he's getting insulted a lot lately like Pac is getting insulted too, people want this fight.

im not sticking up for him here but there is a big difference between not thinking of boxing and not thinking of boxing himself (fighting) this year

cotto and king are business ventures, which is money.
