I like MMA pay structure. They should adopt it in boxing. The day the money starts going crazy the day MMA will begin to die. Look at Henderson leaving because of money. Him leaving improves Strikeforce which improves a competitor which takes away the UFC monopoly which will see fighters switching orgs which will see match ups not made and ultimately that is what the fans want - the best match ups. My only issue is the $5/6,000 pay days. They should be a touch higher unless the UFC can gurantee a fight every 2 months. If you are in the UFC you should be able to train full time. If you are training full time and fighting every 4 months and only earning $5/6,000 then it's not good money for what you do. $7,500 is a bit more respectable and help these guys live a little more comfortable OR they shouldn't tie them down to contract so they can fight in other orgs and earn money.
Go ask Thiago if he would rather make that fighting Rashad Evans for a night, or if he would rather be a roofer for 10 hours a day and make slightly less than that for an entire years work?
