They don't need to sell ****. The cards airing live on Spike. Besides Akiyama/Bisping is a far better match up than Bisping/Johnson. Rumble hasn't done anything to deserve a mainevent spot, especially at 185.
It will be on Spike in the US so I doubt the UFC really care that much. We rarley get good main events for the UK shows. :-(
John Hathaway vs. Dong Hyun Kim is a great fight, but overall this card is the usual thin gruel that gets served up to the UK fans.
:deal Exactly, UFC take the **** for the UK shows. British fans sell out the shows in double quick time and provide a great atmosphere, yet the loyalty is rewarded with what is a pretty mediocre card like this. Compare this bill to the UFC in Australia a few months back But they just count on the fact that we are partizan in our support of our own fighters which at least gives more British fighters the opportunity to fight on UFC cards i suppose :think
This isnt comparable to most of the UK shows the previous shows usually had solid main events whether it be Rampage vs Henderson, Couture vs Vera, Gonzaga vs Cro Cop and even Stevenson vs Sanchez was better then this. Akiyama vs Bisping is the worse main event ive seen probably for any UFC card Akiyama is just some overatted Asian fighter who beat basically noboddy worth a mention, comes to the UFC gets a gift vs Belcher and gets choked out by Leben who never chokes anyone. Bisping gets whooped on anytime he fights someone who isnt a can or a journeymen the guy is a popular gatekeeper and nothing more hes never legitmately beat anyone worth a damn.
What's the biggest card we've had in the UK? Couture vs Vera! BJ Penn vs Stevenson! It would be nice if we could get a really big fight with a solid undercard rather than average British fighters.
as a spike card, nothing. I originally thought it was a PPV til someone cleared it up later.used to UFC ### meaning PPV
