Is there a particular rule that when someone shoots lazily and you're able to stuff it so that their head it trapped underneath your chest, that you can't just pound them with fists to the side of the skull? :huh I've noticed that it's hardly ever done and seems kind of an obvious way to score some points and maybe inflict damage without expending too much energy. It doesn't make sense not to, unless it's barred.
Kampman inflicted more damage in the third, Shields was able to control 1.30 seconds of the 3rd round, while Kampman dominated the rest. I gave the 2nd and 3rd to Kampman. Shields got some better positions, very superior positions but he failed to inflict damage, and didn't fully commit to submissions, I think he maybe threw two very light hammer punches.
Big John has been terrible tonight. Does he really need to say, "Let's work" to a guy on someone's back trying for a rear naked? atsch
Lol, joke. If anything, credit was given to Shields for his reputation of being a great, controlling wrestler. Kampman had more serious sub attempts, and inflicted more damage with strikes. When Shields had great position, he inflicted virtually zero damage, and went for virtually no sub attempts. If you can get a position, and fail to inflict damage or fail to attempt a sub, it shouldn't mean anything. Especially if your opponent is bucking you off and taking the fight to where they want it, and successfully inflicting damage from that position.. Kampman escaped full mount, got it back to standing in the 2nd and landed knees to Shields head. 3rd, Kampman dominated position and inflicted damage up until the last 1.30 seconds. Where Shields got dominant position, got his back, but he never really threw a meaningful shot, never even commited to a serious rnc.
Sonnen had back acne as well during the weigh in for the Silva fight. I dont deride him if he did take anabolics, he ran a very effective cycle if he did, considering the conditioning and strength he showed against Silva. Considering his positive test though......well its not surprising
I think that might be considered rabbit punching? Im not certain, but I know the UFC has rules for neck cranks and punching to the back of the head with a fist. Its why guys always hammer fist when in a top position
Main event time. This should be interesting (which is more than can be said about most of this card).
I have it 2-0 for Kampmann, but it could be argued that first round was even. Shields is just very ineffective whatever position he is in.
Kampmann won that fight fairly clearly. Another robbery in UFC. Disgraceful for Kampmann who has trained for this, put in the work, won the fight - only to have some corrupt pre-scripted stuff steal it from him.
