i thought fitch did plenty to win the fight3rd round was so dominant, i had it 2-1 for fitch where do they go?gsp beats shields, gsp movs up to fight silva, welterweight belt gets vacated, fitch vs. penn 2 for title wat do yall think?
Honestly, Koscheck has done more at 170 to justify being in a vacated title fight than Penn. Penn ko'd Hughes and has a draw with Fitch. Thiago Alves has a win over Kos, but he just lost to Fitch. That rematch would probably be a hard sell at this point. I think Koscheck vs Fitch for the vacant title with the winner of Alves vs Penn getting the next shot would make more sense.
If it were a true Grank Prix, that would be great. If it's like StrikeForce's Heavyweight Grand Prix, the UFC already does that. The UFC makes it's best fighters face each other for the most part. Okami getting ****ed out of a title shot isn't guaranteeing that the UFC will continue to do that. Hopefully Okami will be a lone exception in the years to come.
At first i thought fitch should have won 2-1 but looking back at the 2nd round it could have been anybody's round. Penn did have fitch in trouble again when he got his back and then fitch got on top and didn't really did much damage. I was impress with how fitch defended the takedowns and bj's submission. I thought it was over when bj got him on the ground and got his back.
If GSP beats Shields and moves up id like to see some type of tournament. Take the Rick Story-Thiago Alves fight from a month later, a BJ-Fitch rematch, take the winner of this Thursdays Kampmann-Sanchez, Carlos Condit, Josh Koscheck if hes healthy and any 1 or 2 of the following Jake Ellenberger, Mike Pierce, Jake Shields, Matt Hughes.
I had Fitch winning the 2nd and 3rd 10-8. 1st was Penns but the 2nd was close. The judges aren't God to predict what would happen in the 3rd round and thus stamp his mark on the fight.
