Alrighty then. Thanks for backing it up with numbers. I would swap the last two based on aesthetic beauty if there is such a thing in MMA.

If it were based on aesthetic beauty, I would as well. :good

Not that I have a better grasp on what "it" is based on, I'm just going with practically spectacular over purely spectacular.

I've never been struck to the back of the head while sparring so I have no idea what that feels like. Is it really that dangerous?

I also favour the Barboza KO because it actually put his opponent to sleep with no follow up. Aldo's knee set up the finish; it wasn't actually a knock out blow on its own.

At the base of the neck, supposedly, the brain is less protected. I don't know that Silva landed any shots to that particular area tonight, though.

No. It's all spectacle. That;s why people pay to see.

    That is a fair point.

I'm still going with Aldo. It still won't help him. I don't decide who gets the checks.

Knockout of the Night: Edson Barboza

    Barboza wins.

Ok. I'm going with the practical spectacle over the pure spectacle, if you prefer.

Well, being the elitist that I am, I feel further vindicated. This is the masses are asses result.

I mostly glad that it actually worked this time. He came so close to finishing Njokuani the same way, but didn't land it quite as flush.

Barboza deservedly won KO of the night, but goes to show Aldo was just going through a patch of not finishing against very tough and talented opposition, and here, he shows his all-round game and devastates another tough and talented guy that's been put in front of him.

Awesome. And thank **** Vitor got Johnson cut from the UFC, I imagine he'll end up fighting in Strikeforce now....although I'd like to see him in with Falcao in Bellators middleweight tournament :yep

    :deal

If Mendes can't take Aldo and Gray allegedly couldn't who can? Add that to his incredible striking and BB in BJJ its gonna be hard for anyone to beat him. I don't think there is any chance of that happening unless he moves up to LW.

I think Jim Hettes, once he has a bit more experience, could give him problems.:happy

I can't see Hettes' striking ever developing to the point where Aldo won't light him up.
