From what I remember Che was getting about $24K from M1 so I'm very shocked at this... :-( BAMMA were paying him a lot more than that too!!! This goes to show the power of the UFC brand... Lynchburg
I suppose the top guys earn a decent wage, but when you factor that in with signing away image rights for life and the amount earned in each show, these guys are getting shafted royally They are earning $50 a pop in PPV, DVD, video games and merchandise sales, website subscriptions ect...
From December's PPV: Cotto-Margo 2 Miguel Cotto $5,000,000 vs. Antonio Margarito $2,500,000 Brandon Rios $325,000 vs. John Murray $50,000 "The fighters put on the undercards of PPV bouts are rising prospects who are not fighting big names. Guys like Matt Korobov, Daniel Jacobs, Deontay Wilder, Demtrius Andrade ect.. (most of you guys probably haven't heard of these guys, but they are the young prospects) are the ones on these undercards. They are usually getting less than $10k per fight in the beginning, but they fight every few weeks. Plus the fight money isn't where most of it comes from. All those guys I mentioned signed 7-figure signing bonuses right when they turned pro. Then at the next level: A HBO Boxing After Dark card, which is the lowest level of card HBO shows, the headliners get usually between $250,000-$1,000,000. A HBO World Championship Boxing Card, which is the highest thing that's not a ppv the headliners usually get between $1,000,000-$3,000,000 A standard HBO PPV with no 24/7 build up the headliners usually get between $2,000,000-$7,000,000 A hyped HBO PPV with a 24/7 the headliners usually get between $4,000,000-$13,000,000 Then a few guys like Mayweather, Pacquiao, De La Hoya, and Hatton can make over $20,000,000 per fight. Some guys have guaranteed contracts (Miguel Cotto is guaranteed at least $3,000,000 per fight based on his contract with Top Rank) and long term deals with television networks worth additional money." :deal Boxing money shits on 90% of MMA money, at every level
I dont know why you put pride in the list as figher salaries had nothing to do with why they went out of business. The facts are with no competition the UFC can pay whatever they want and the fighters cant do **** about it.
Look if you want to have a debate about whether the UFC pays fighters too little that's all well and good. Hell if you want to have a debate about whether its bull**** so much of fighter income is extracontractal and therefore completely at White's whim then I'm right there with you. But don't pretend that these figures are anything other than the minimum each fighter will earn. To say this is all these fighters earn makes you either a liar or a ****ing moron.
Quote me where I said that. It's equally moronic to suggest that these fighters are well paid in propotion to the total generated income due to Dana and co granting them an ''attaboy'' bonus The good ole ''these guys whouldnt have the opportunity if it wasnt for the UFC, they should be thankful'' line is bull****. If you truely think that way, why dont you pay $50 to watch 3 hours of the UFC logo on screen... I guess if the fighters dont like it they should go work construction or something. Im sure Dana would be happy to go back to teaching boxercise classes...
This completely ignores anything I actually said. It ignores that I've repeatedly said that fighters should receive a bigger slice of the moneys generated by the UFC through one way or another. It ignores that I said IN THE POST YOU QUOTE that I disagree with the bonus structure for the very reason you mention. It ignores that I never said that fighters should be grateful for the opportunity, or they wouldn't have it without the UFC. All I said was that remarks such as these are either lies or stupid:
I don't know but please show me one occasion when a UFC fighters pay has been opened up and it hasn't been shown they earn more than their base pay.
How do you know it's lies then? And show me one occasion where it's proved the fighters get paid more on Dana's say so. Im not saying they dont, but show me some figures, even if they double his pay, is it proportional to the income generated for being on the co main event?
They make more than their base salary through endorsements and sponsorship which makes up their income. Fighter also get money for promotional things and extra bonuses. But their main salary is the fight money.
