UFC 148: Le Vs Franklin + FX3: Guida Vs Maynard

5 rounds makes Guida Vs Maynard a different prospect. Guida's engine is insane, whilst I think he'll find it hard to outwrestle or overpower Maynard early, and Grey is a big man, strong and hits hard.

Guida needs to grind him down late IMO. Great fight, I'll take Maynard, UD, based on a strong first few rounds. Guida eats shots for fun, and Grey will be happy to accommodate him.

Franklin has been out for a long time with injury, but should take this. Is Cung coming in even more out of shape or is 'Ace' moving back to 185?

 

I like Franklin over Le , Le has a questionable gas tank , and once Franklin gets into his stride he is actually a very busy fighter who attacks from all angles , specially if the move back to 185 is done correctly , he should have an advantage over Le in his general mobility , Franklin is chinny but i don't see Le hitting him on target that often , added to that Franklin is actually a good wrestler , even though i don't think he will want to take the fight to the ground , he may do just that once Le inevitably gasses

While Le is a striker with unusual skill , i think Franklin is a more well rounded striker than Le overall , and i see Rich TKO'ing the tired Cung Le late in the fight

Maynard vs Guida is a pick em , if Gray decides to wrestle Guida more than he strikes , it will be a tough night for Clay Guida , but I'm not sure he will , i think he may have to turn to his wrestling to put on a stamp on the fight which should be pretty even on the feet , while Maynard doesn't have the appearance of a striker , his boxing is very very solid , and he has excellent timing , also in that department of his game he just seems to keep improving , Guida is a high output style fighter who's pretty good at everything , but ..................... if he cannot secure a TD and wear down an opponent with a combination of high output on the feet coupled with some top time on the mat , he has problems !!

I have a hunch the longer this fight goes (it is a 5 rounder remember) the more Guida comes on , Maynard is not a slouch @55 by any means , but he's huge at the weight , where as Guida is comfortable there , if it comes down to a question of who has the better engine Guida will come out the other end on that one i feel

I see this going one of two ways , Maynard KO's Guida early on with his hands , or Maynard takes a decision 3 rounds to 2 , side note , it will be interesting to see if Maynard's once granite like chin has took any longterm damage from the Edgar TKO

 

He's moving back to 85 Flea

 

Depending on the opposition I'm pretty sure Rich will be back @205 after this fight , there's just more options for him there , and quite rightly he'll fancy himself against the middle echelon of 205'ers

 

I think Franklin is fitter and more strategic than Le. Le has the kicks but I think Franklin might be okay with the boxing. Enough to get into the grappling. If he keeps his distance and no takedown threats he could get ****ed up.

I think Maynard is more talented than Guida and a slightly better boxer/wrestler version but Guida can set a pace that I'm doubtful if Gray can match.

 

Franklin will have to be crafty in getting Le to the ground , its not as straight forward as just shooting in and securing a TD with Le , he is highly skilled in many area's , he was once an accomplished wrestler himself , and with his Sanshou and submission wrestling background it makes him a crafty guy to tangle up with , if Franklin does need to take this fight to the ground he may need to do so once Le begins to slow down

Franklin will need to stay tight himself (which he normally does anyway) because if Le gets a hold of him , he'll always look for a TD while he's fresh , not that it bears that much resemblance anyway because Franklin has better JJ but Le will toss him to the mat given half the chance

 

Awful card, they could have done better with abit of time in between show.
