UFC 156: Greatest PPV Card of All-Time?

    I think so.

    Jose Aldo vs Frankie Edgar: A superfight if there ever was one.

    I also think it makes a case for being bigger than that of St. Pierre/Penn II. Penn was/is undoubtedly the greatest lightweight of all-time as Jose Aldo is at featherweight.

    Georges St. Pierre had a great string of scalps leading up to his second fight with Penn: Parisyan, Sherk, Penn (1), Hughes 2x, Koscheck, and Jon Fitch (amongst many more, of course). Edgar's don't have the same mainstream appeal but just as dangerous, nonetheless: Jim Miller, Griffin, Sherk, Penn 2x, Maynard (with a draw), and two fights that could have easily gone his way, against Benson Henderson.

    Rashad Evans vs Antonio Rogerio Nogueira: Evans top-3 LHW? At least top-5. Lil' Nog, an absolute legend in the sport and his name carries huge value.

    Alistair Overeem vs Antonio Silva: Come fight night -- we could very well have close to 600 ****ing pounds of mean, horse gulping, Fedor stomping, man inside of the Octagon. Both are very highly ranked as well. (With Overeem top-3.)

    Jon Fitch vs Demian Maia: "Styles make fights." Fitch could very well be the 3rd greatest welterweight of all-time and, save for Roger Gracie, Maia could be the best pure Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner in the entire sport of MMA.

    Joseph Benavidez vs Ian McCall: Number 2 vs number 3. Action, action, action.

    Every main card fight is set to have fireworks, big title implications (for the most part), and huge name value to the hardcore fan base.

    Overall, this card includes the perfect blend of standup strikers, grapplers, knockout artists, point fighters, grinders, submission artists, wrestlers, freakshow fights: behemoths and midgets, champions, uncrowned champions, former champions, legend destroyers, and just plain badass -- non-stop -- mother ****ing action.

    I'm pumped.

    UFC 100, UFC 92, UFC 144, UFC 79, UFC 52, UFC 34, UFC 1, UFC 139, UFC 129, UFC 31, you name it -- I'd take this one over all of them.

    When the worst fight on the main card is Rashad-Little Nog, you know that's epic. :lol:

    Looking forward to the Fitch fight. Really hoping that he can grab a nice win. He seems like a good dude, and his win over Silva was all class. Showed heart and grit and toughness, and actually pushed to make it an exciting fight too. It seems like he actively wants to put on a good show, like he's sick of being known as a boring fighter. :conf

    There are a lot of good cards coming up, most of them free.

    The next Fuel card has:

    Wandy-Stann
    Stuve-Huuntuuu
    Gomi-Sanchez
    Lombard-Okami
    Stun Gun-Bahadurzada

    Then the next Fox card has:

    Henderson-Melendez
    Cormier-Mir
    Matt Brown-Dan Hardy
    And now Nate-Thompson.

    Very strong cards, especially for free. :yep

    On paper it looks very solid but i couldnt say for sure if this is the best PPV thus far without having seen it.
    What if most of the fights turn out to be a snooze fest then i wouldnt say that this is the best PPV thus far

    I´m not a "widow of PRIDE" but there is quite a few in there that are better.

    PRIDE Final Conflict 2003 was clearly better....

    That's just not fair. If we could have the greatest LHW's in the world fight twice -- you put that on ANY card and its automatically legendary.

    But how about just UFC PPV's then?

    Rashad vs. Nog could end up sucking.

    I really like the Fitch/Maia fight, but there is a definite possibility of it sucking, as well.

    It's a good lineup but... no.

    I'll take 2 or 3 huge fights over a card of well known talent.
