You're totally right, and I've been stuff like this for a long time. Kicks really change the game and make it a lot harder to use what looks like "good boxing technique". That said, the lesson of the Cruikshank/Macdesi fight is the importance of crisp punches over crazy kicks and spinning attacks. When they were both trying to implement their TKD stuff it was a boring standstill while they both tried to get their timing and space and all that. Once Macdesi got his punches going though he was able to get it done.
