A potentially blockbuster middleweight bout between Pilipino powerhouse, Mark Munoz and come from behind king, Tim Boetsch has been added to the UFC 162 card set to go down July 6th in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fight was first revealed by MMAFighting.com. It is thought verbal agreements are in place on both sides at this early stage. Munoz has been sidelined with an injured foot for a number of months, something that forced him out of action since losing to Chris Weidman mid-last year on a UFC on FUEL event. A fantastic wrestler, Munoz holds an overall record of 12-3 including six strike-based stoppages. Boetsch was sporting a four-fight winning streak in the middleweight division before running into Constantinos Philippou at UFC 155 in December. After suffering a broken hand earlier in the fight, Boetsch was TKOed in the third round.
I just hope Munoz eventually gets a title shot. That would be problematic with Belfort, Okami and Lombard all around the corner.
"Do battle"? As if Munoz is some fast paced FOTN seeker. He got FOTN honors against Grove for simple fact his stand up is that **** poor, Grove gave him fits on the feet.
That was a fun little war. This fight could go either way. I'd favour Boetsch, though. Munoz will struggle to take him down and probably get put away in round 2/3.
