Potential fight of the year this weekend featuring 1 of my favourite fighters in the unbeaten Brian Ortega against 1 of the best P4P fighters Max Holloway, who hasn't been beaten since a points loss to Mcgregor in 2013.

I assume most mma fans are very familiar with Ortega but I see this as a coming out party for Ortega as being 1 of the best in the world and eventually an opponent for Khabib who he matches up extremely well with and who I believe will be the 1st to beat Khabib.

I'm picking Ortega and I think he might stop Holloway. Imo he is the best ground fighter in all of MMA and also has decent stand up on the feet as he showed in the stoppage of Edgar. There is also massive ?????? over Holloway as he really struggles to continue fighting down to 145 and had to be pulled from his last fight due to neurological/health reasons.

Define the best ground fighter.. Ortega is a great submission artist from most positions, but he ain't a wrestler or a vicious and dominating ground and pound fighter.

Ortega should take this one, if he is as great as many believes. Holloway has been through hell this year. First out with a leg injury, then twice out after a dangerous weight cut. Let's see if he even makes it to the fight this time. No matter the outcome of the weight cut or the fight, i do hope this is the last fight for Holloway at 145 pounds.

I like Ortega, and i can see him catch Holloway in a submission - but i am 100 percent rooting for Holloway in this fight.

It's a hard one. I think Holloway has more tools all around but Ortega's just got the x-factor clutch finish ability. Head says Ortega - heart says Holloway.

Love the realness of both these fighters....Just watched the press conference and Max still doesn't seem right, constantly repeating himself and eyes all over the place like he is cooked.

I'm going to sit out on voting on this poll. Holloway's health is way too much of a '?' for me in this one. Am I the only one who has the heebie jeebies over the fact that he had to pull out of this fight 6 months ago for a condition that was never officially diagnosed but was rumored to be a stroke/a concussion/a weight cut catastrophy?

Anyone who didn't follow that story closely when it broke should go back and brush up on what went down. Apparently Max fell asleep and his handlers couldn't wake him up. Then when he did wake up he couldn't remain standing and was having issues with his vision, like he was seeing flashing lights changing colors and electric cobwebs and all sorts of stuff that's fine when you're tripping on acid but not so hot days before a fight.

It worries me that it hasn't been diagnosed. And its worrisome that Max doesn't have answers and just shrugs when asked about it. His buddy Yancy Meideros has been mum about it as well.

2018 has been a disaster for Max so far: 1.) ankle injury earlier this year, killing the fight with Frankie Edgar 2.) weight cut debacle in Brooklyn, 3.) the international fight week meltdown.

If Max was definitely 100% fit and not facing a 12 month layoff I would probably pick him. I think the lame duck aura from the events of the last year have made people forget what an amazing fighter he is. Although he can't match Ortega on the ground, his defensive grappling has improved at a consistent pace. He's a long distance from the guy who lost via mounted triangle/armbar to Dustin Poirier early on.

As another poster said, although Ortega's offensive bjj is terrifying, compared to some other guys like Jacare or Demian Maia, he does have a strong takedown or trip/throw game to reliably get the fight to the ground.

Ortega's hands are undeniably legit though, with great feints and setups, and good power too. It does seem like we've seen him stunned a number of time though. Against Cub, I wouldn't say he was wobbled, but he seemed a little buzzed once or twice, and if i remember the bout with Moicano, he also buckled there as well.

Not to say that T-City is fragile; I just think he's not imperious to damage like Carlos Condit or a prime Anthony Pettis. Therefore, I could see Holloway having a slight edge with his hands on the feet, while mixing in elbows and kicks and being diligent about clinch breaks. No doubt though, Ortega is a killing machine, and Holloway faces danger every moment until the end.

Max looked awesome at the official weigh in making weight with ease, then in front of the crowd both guys at an epic stare down that's got me pumped for tommorow.

So much drama in this fight , will Holloway get KO'd and die in the ring or just go into a coma and die weeks or months later .

Ridiculous that he is fighting anymore , sad .

On the upside Ortega will get a another win but he might quit the biz after he puts Holloway away for good

Jercheck vs Shevchenko is interesting. Both are impressive tactical fighters. Nunes is good and she got ran very close by Chenko.
Really good card from top to bottom

I'm gonna base it that max is healthy and pick him based on his over all game. I love both of these guys the way they conduct themselves with out all the bull**** others do to sell a fight.

If Holloway can avoid getting drawn to the ground and making any careless mistakes he should win.
