Gastelum blew his chance in the 4th for the knockout. Didn't think Israel had that in him - and didn't think he had the power in his hand to hurt Gastelum. I'll favor him vs Whittaker now.
This is why boxing is behind UFC for me. In boxing a fight between Adesanya and Whittaker would be years in the making. In UFC it will be months.
I agree Isreal was doing good with the kicks but Kelvin should have also kicked back. Would have made the take down easier.
I felt he was overrated before this fight. Proved something today, he threw out the gameplan in the fifth and went for all out war. Heart and spirit of a champ!
I won't. I've watched his last few fights and his striking isn't at the level of his hype. We could all see that in his fight with the shopworn Silva. He started connecting and looking good in the last round when his shorter tubby opponent was gassed tonight. Romero would wreck him. If Whitaker is fully healed, he will as well.
Kinda agree, i don't think his striking are on another level. I am more impressed with his fluidity and movement. I feel like his striking are getting more sharp the longer a fight goes. Romero can wreck anyone, if he lands clean - i think Israel vs Whittaker will be very competitive.
Holloway vs Poirier - 5 rounds. Question is if Poirier can hurt Holloway or take him down. Over five rounds i see Holloway winning.
He strikes like a past it Silva, or a poor man's Jones. His movements are fluid, but something is missing as far as accuracy and one punch power.
