The referee was trash, they wanted Cormier to win to set up a future big money unification fight with Jones, a glorified rivalry that would have been epic. Yes eye pokes. Now move along child

I'd still favour Cormier to win if they do the trilogy,he has a good team who will help him come up with better strategies to combat Stipes body attack and I don't believe he will get as complacent as he did last night after dominating for long periods.
Miocic had clearly trained hard and slimmed down for a reason that helped prepare him for the championship rounds and getting in to deeper waters with Cormier, who had no answers for Stipe brilliant change of strategy in that last round.

Just seen it, that eye poke could have changed the dynamic of the fight, like it did the first, good thing Miocic adjusted.

Was one of the better cards the UFC have put out for a while, some pretty good fights imo...

Funny could not find a RBR for this yesterday I must have been blind..

No one chooses not to adapt since not adapting means losing, and that's not in a top fighter's nature. He clearly felt the effect of the bodyshots way before the final one that lead to the stoppage, but was unable to find an answer to them. That was down to Stipe making the necessary adjustments and Cormier being unable to, which you seem to acknowledge anyway, so I'm not quite sure of the point you want to make.

The point I want to make, is that Cormier was very settled in his attack process and mindset given all the success he enjoyed in the 4 rounds leading up the moment Stipe COMPLETELY switched his attack plan.

Cormier was clearly uber confident that Stipe was a few shots away from getting KOd and that even if he didn't go down, Cormier would win a descision.

Because of this high level of confidence Cormier enjoyed, given he won the first fight the same way, he figured eff the body shots I am going to keep doing what I am doing by tagging Stipe as I am winning every exchange.. and he paid the price due to his GREED.

He got greedy, and his trainer told him don't get greedy. So yeah if he hadn't got greedy with his amateur attitude to the fight in keeping his guard down, and not caring about what comes his way, he could have beaten Stipe and mixed it up. But he just stayed one dimensional to the very end. Stipe was forced to switch tactics because he was on the receiving end of a beat down, Cormier was complacent, no one was forcing him to change anything, if aint broke dont fix it, he became stubborn thinking he would eventually drop stipe or win by UD by applying the same constant, one dimensional pressure.

    Miocic/Cormier III and after
Miocic wins have Ngannou or Jones cash in money in the bank to take the belt away from him. Dana and the hacks at WME really do not like the guy. Maybe he should act more like McGregor or Covington? Being a legitimate stand up guy with no BS is apparently a no no in the fight game.

    Post fight with cormier

“When you start finding success and landing things you fall in love with it. It feels like the [Alexander] Gustafsson fight all over again, when I wrestled a lot in first round, and in the last four rounds I didn’t.
“They were begging me then. I paid the ultimate price for not listening to my coaches. I feel pretty bad about that.”

He chose not to change tactics, and mix it up, or stick to his gameplan, he enjoyed what he was doing like I said, uber confident, got greedy. Went against his coaches.

DC is far from washed up. He might even be a better version of himself than he was in the first fight.

But he is not as good as he was in his prime.

Prime for prime he always beats Miocic imo.

Miocic is almost 40 himself, and no I dont agree, Miocics best version will always beat Cormier unless eye pokes are involved.

Cormier was at his best from 2011, Miocic from 2015.

If they met back in 2015 I favour DC by ko.
