I underestimated the style match up, paired with Adesanya's length advantages. Seemed like when Whitaker would charge in, in the second round, Adesanya would just use his legs, and then lean back, making the angle bad for Whitaker's punch. It kept grazing Adesanya's shoulder. Props to Adesanya. Totally surprised me. Probably helped a bit that Whitaker isn't a wrestler. How do you have a war with short tubby Gastelum, but ice Whitaker?
Being dominated ? Adesanya was a deserved champion and has the skills and power to beat just about anybody but Whitaker despite being super rusty, still won the 1st round even tho he got dropped at end of the round
It's to do with Whitakers style and willingness to get in the pocket and trade, while i'm not saying he would have beat Adesany, anybody who has watched enough of Whitaker knows that 2 years away showed in that fight as his timing etc was way off despite being in the best shape of his career.
WHAT ? Did you score rd 1 10-9 to Whitakker ? It was a close rd up to the end but getting dropped badly at the end 100% gave the rd to Adesanya and I'm a Whitakker fan.
Actually most of the major media scored the same as me,no biggie if you scored it the other way it was fairly close but Whitaker was a bit more busy even if he was rusty and sloppy missing with some big shots.
Whittaker fought like a complete idiot spamming overhand rights and left hooks. He deserved to lose fighting that way and he did. Still not 100% convinced in Adesanya but he's done a lot better than I expected him to do what do I know?
