Chick-fights suck.

 

Shevchenko isn’t working much on the ground, seems as though she is spoiling. She is more than competent to stand with Grasso so should take a few more chances. Two takedowns levels the fight at a round each

 

This one is actually pretty good.

Shevchenko looking a bit tentative. I think she's declining. There were a number of openings for her kicks, but she didn't take advantage of it.

Some guys are whistling in the background when they're both on the floor.

 

Lol, Shevchenko keeps loosing the standup trades.

 

I don't think she's used to fighting a southpaw. Grasso keeps switching and it confused Shevchenko.

 

The scoring system regarding takedowns in MMA needs to change. It needs to be followes by effective groundwork for it to mean anything in a round. Shevchenko is losing the standing exchanges, spoils with a takedown that doesn’t amount too much but earns her the round. Same stuff with Volk vs Islam. Good separation by the ref to stand them up.

How the hell do you even score that round? Valentina gets a takedown and does nothing? Even the referee says you aint working, stand up. On the feet she gets slapped. But judges will award her the round

 

They should not have been stood up there. Valentina just started opening up and landing some big shots.

 

Round 1: 10-9 Grasso
Round 2: 10-9 Shevchenko
Round 3: 10-9 Shevchenko

 

That distance can be such a ***** to manage.
Plus Grasso keeps launching her punches straight from her chin, which means there isn´t that much telegraph on them and it´s harder to react.

 

An actually good female fight outside of Amanda Nunes or Cyborg. Nice.

 

Valentina knows she's in with a world class striker that's for sure.

 

2-1 Shevchenko.

The timing of that separation was bad. Shevchenko was starting the ground and pound and the ref broke them.

 

Way too predictable takedown attempts by Shevchenko.
