Nothing about his performance or the fight itself warrants one, imo. Definitely could have done better though. Thats what sucks.
Nobody else seems like they really deserve a shot though. Shavkat’s latest win was over a 40 year old Wonderboy. Let Shavkat and Garry fight for the next in line, in the meantime have the rubber match. Nothing else makes sense.
This bald headed idiot is only in the position he's in because he begged the Fertittas to buy the UFC.
Dana is an idiot. Yes, he did a great job helping make UFC more popular. But eventually other promotions will take over unless the UFC is willing to give half their profits to the fighters instead of 20-25%.
I don't think he will be champ for long to be honest. Kind of like Strickland in that i don't expect them to be champ for extended periods. 170 isn't a great division even though it should be. 155 historically and in recent years has been the deepest division but the Dagestani wrestling style is boring as well. I can't wait till Islam retires or someone else takes over and defeats this style. 145 is fairly interesting. 185 is reasonably strong and a match between Adesanya and Du Plessis may be the best fight of the year. We will say. 205 is a one man show right now. Not that deep but credit to Periera. Heavy lacks depth but Aspinall is very talented and i would love to see him vs Jones. Overall, the UFC isn't in a great place. They don't have guys with the star power of McGregor, younger Adesanya, active Jones etc. I hope things can pick back up again.
White must be fuming right now, because WTF do you do with Belal? Usman sold tickets and PPV´s. Edwards had the UK market to fall back on. Belal has a one minute highlight reel on YouTube. This is Tyron Woodley all over again.
Tommy Aspinall is a freak of nature. 14 of his 15 wins via stoppage in round 1, the other a minute into round 2 Blaydes, Pavlovich and Tybura taken out in a 1:00, 1:09, and 1:13 respectively Volkov taken out in 3:45 Spivac 2:30 Pavlovich, Blaydes and Volkov were all ranked in the top 5 Aspinall can do it all: Strike, grapple, BJJ black belt. He can knockout or sub the best fighters at the weight in seconds or a few minutes repeatedly The only thing I don't like is his lack of octagon time and he leaves himself too open to getting clipped
The baddest man on the planet currently zero doubt about it. He would have made a solid pro boxer had he decided to continue down that route.
Yeah, he needs to work on his defence though. Granted what he's been doing has obviously been working extremely well for him, but it's just an area I would like to see him work on because he has GOAT potential or certainly HW GOAT potential. Not saying he will go onto achieve that but he's so talented, well rounded and physically gifted he could, especially if he opts to go down the part of least resistance when facing opponents he holds big advantages on the ground over. But if he tightens up his defence he'll really reduce the chances of getting clipped and any of these guys beating him.
Always a pleasure seeing McCann get beat. Ridiculous having the main event at 6am or whatever it was. I'm sure it wouldn't be a huge inconvenience for Americans if they had to watch it at 5pm instead of 11/12.
