Signed contract. Until the old one expires and they sign a new one, forget about it.

Hey guys you aren't taking something into account.

Those are not guaranteed purses. Typically, you get a certain sum for fighting, and a certain sum for winning. I'm not 100% sure, but I'd be willing to bet a whole lot that Franklin would have gotten 90k had he beaten Anderson etc. Look, every winning fighter has an EVEN thousand dollar amount when he wins.

Yes. But that doesn't exactly make it better. The winners still didn't get a whole lot.

I suppose. For the top paid fighters, I really don't see a problem. Silva fought three times this year, four times last year, and three times the year before. I don't necessarily want MMA fighters to become multi-millionaires like boxers, I don't see it being good for the sport. Even Franklin, 45 thousand dollars for a loss isn't nothing. There are plenty of Americans who make less than 45 thousand dollars in an entire year.

That said, the lower tiered fighters are definitely underpaid. It's hard to imagine how you can compete in MMA full-time, and yet only get paid about 5 thousand a fight.

At the very least, an MMA fighter MUST be 100% committed to make it in the sport. A loss means half the money, and possibly a loss of their contract.

I said it before, I'll say it again, and I'll keep saying it until it changes.

dana and his contracts **** the fighters over. they[re the only game in town and hold all the cards. the announced live gate covered the fighters expenses easily, and that doesn't begin to scratch ppv.

Yeah, Dana White modeled the UFC after the Vince McMahon approach to compensating his employees. There's alotta shameless self-promotion and unnecessary screen time involved with virtually every telecast. You absolutely, positively must be an ******* to accomplish this. Being a dick in interviews/press conferences is mandatory and unprofessionalism should reign supreme. Welcome to the world of the WWUFC.
