GSP is the future of MMA. He is the prototype of what MMA fighters will become within 10 years. He is a pioneer of the sport.
Yeah. I think he's the first fighter you can truly say has no holes in his game. The only thing that will hold him back is himself.
Manny is a little monster. I'm still convinced if he hadn't gotten hurt in the TUF finale, he would have whooped Nate Diaz.
I agree. The only thing I see is he is going to be dwarfed by the top 155 pounders. BJ, Sherk, Florian, Din, Guida, Huerta, Aurelio, Griffin, etc. are all enormous compared to him.
Yeah, you're right on that front. I'd actually love to see him drop to 145 and fight, but there's no way he'd want to head to the WEC.
George St. Pierre and Anderson Silva are very special fighters. Their mold was first seen with guys like Rich Franklin, guys who weren't necessarily the best at anything, but were well rounded enough to find your weakness and beat you there. Silva and St. Pierre are like that, except they are so dedicated and so talented that they are the best at everything. No one outwrestles St. Pierre. No one outstrikes St. Pierre. St. Pierre has some of the best submissions at 170.
I wouldn't quite put Silva on that level because I don't think he has good wrestling. His striking is clearly amazing, and I've been impressed with his jiu jitsu. But the old-fashioned wrestling hasn't been there...not that he's needed it.
Well, it's kind of hard to define "wrestling" in MMA. If you think of wrestling as a combination of clinch and ground fighting, he is the best at 185 without a doubt. It's just that the WAY he fights in the clinch and on the ground isn't the same as classical freestyle wrestling.
I still can't believe how easily GSP threw Hughes down......a couple times....it looked like he was handling a rag doll......Hughes had nothing in this whole fight....the best was the way he was screaming at the ref to stop the fight....I was actually dissapointed because I wanted to see him get beat a litttle more.....but I'll settle for that.
Outwrestling Koschek and Hughes clearly makes St. Pierre the best wrestler at 170. GOD! I HOPE so hard he wrestles in the olympics like they talked about. If he does, I'll root for another country in the olympics for the first time ever.
haha, that would have been nice...but this fight interfered with that...I just hope he can fight at UFC 83 against Serra in Montreal. I'll bet Hughes is pissed that Serra got injured now....hahaha
Wand should drop down to 185 imo, the UFC LHWS are too ****ing big for him. Liddel`s reach advantage was ridiculous, and Wand`s style of punching makes it even worse. What kind of surprised me is that Liddel couldn`t put Silva even though he hit him with some hard shots. GSP is fantastic. That is all.
Wanderlei is short, but are you forgetting that Wanderlei walks around at 220 and actually outweighed Crocop in their second fight? I seriously doubt he could make 185 without cutting off an arm.
