I know it's a tired debate, but the JC-BH undercard doesn't come close to competing with the Preliminary Card for ufc 83. I'm not abig fan of the ufc, but boxing promoters don't give a sh*t beyond the Main Event. Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas, Nevada, United States Bernard Hopkins Joe Calzaghe 12 David Lopez Ryan Davis 10 Nathan Cleverly Antonio Baker 8 Audley Harrison Jason Barnett 8 Danny Garcia Guadalupe Diaz 6 Hylon Williams Jr. Marcos Mendias 4 Jermell Charlo Jesus Villareal 4 Daniel Jacobs Leshon Sims 4 UFC 83 Main Card Matt Serra vs. Georges St. Pierre Rich Franklin vs. Travis Lutter Michael Bisping vs. Charles McCarthy Mark Bocek vs. Mac Danzig Kalib Starnes vs. Nate Quarry Preliminary Card Jason MacDonald vs. Joe Doerksen Jason Day vs. Alan Belcher Sam Stout vs. Rich Clementi Jonathan Goulet vs. Kuniyoshi Hironaka Brad Morris vs. Cain Velazquez Ed Herman vs. Demian Maia
Yeah, the UFC card will be far more entertaining, but Hopkins/Calazaghe will probably be worth the wait. It might not be the most entertaining fight, but for hardcore fight fans, it's going to be a doozy.
Even the Prelim card is better than the BHOP/Cal undercard. I'll sadly admit that I'll be watching UFC and possibly stream the hop/cal
I agree completely, JC-BHop is a great matchup. It's just that the undercard is a joke. The UFC puts effort into having competitive fights with good fighters from the prelims to the main event. When was the last time you could say that about a Boxing card?
Yeah, I hear ya. I'm a pretty big boxing fan, too, and I haven't even heard of half the guys on that undercard. With the UFC undercard, I've heard of at least 90 percent of them. Of course, they've got a smaller pool to draw from, and don't have to dick around with promoters.
Its a diffrent kettle of fish though. UFC events these days seem to be once every 8 weeks or so if that. Sometimes months go by before a card comes around bearing in mind recently some of the cards have been fairly weak. Boxing meanwhile is on week in week out.
Except for Calzaghe- Hopkins will be a boring 12 rounder. I'd rather watch grass grow and endure 12 rounds of Hopkins...
I'm watching the UFC live, and recording B-Hop/Zag for later. I already know that Joe is going to win by throwing 2000 punches versus Hopkins 100, so I'm not really expected a thriller there.
