I know that doesn't include all the extras, but still, that's just plain ugly. Keith Jardine getting 10,000? He can't still be on his TUF contract, can he? Fighting in the co-main event should get more cash than that. You know he didn't get too many bonuses for getting laid out in 30 seconds. Being concussed for that kind of money seems hardly worth it. And it looks like those steroids didn't help Sean Sherk all that much. 34,000 for being in the main event and a former champion? I think he made somebody mad :yep
I saw these earlier and i still dont see how Keith Jardine only gets 10 grand when he is one of the top light heavys in the UFC and someone like Wilson Gouveia gets double what he gets. I know Jardine is hardly a massive draw or fan favourite but come on.
White knows how to squeeze a dime - and the suspension would certainly give him cause to limit Sherk's pay. But White did stand behind Sherk during the suspension, so he can't be too mad.
That boggles my mind. And Rich Clementi makes four times what he does. Rich Clementi! Jardine is a former TUFer with a lot of fights under his belt and some pretty big wins (Forrest, Liddell). There's absolutely no reason for him to be making jack ****. He should be making what Machida is making. Machida is undefeated, but Jardine is more well-known. They should be in the same ballpark, at the very least.
Tha'ts because he won that fight, If he would have won the Silva fight, Im guessing he would have gotten 10k to show and 10k to win=20k
The fact is he should be earning more than 10k just to show up like people who are much less known and worse fighters are.
Jardine didn't win Tuf though, so I'd assume they offered him a **** contract and he was more then happy to take it. Maybe he hasn't renegotiated yet....just a possible explanation. :deal
There's got to be something else going on. I'd really love to see his contract and how he got roped into such a shitty one. The pay discrepancies are ridiculous. I understand why "nobodies" get paid **** and "superstars" get paid more. But these decent, mid-card fighters should be getting about the same pay. They're not though, and it isn't even close.
Plus Jardine seems to me like the type of guy who just wants to fight and keep quiet instead of making something of it a la Tito Ortiz and Randy Couture. He must have some decent sponsorship deals to make enough money for training etc. on that money.
I would like to see the group of us come up with 20 questions for Dana White and actually see if he answers them. Like.... why aren't the fighters allowed to do moon plancha's off the cage top to finish the fight. Clay Guida probably has a kick ass moonsault finisher in his arsenal. I. Just. Know. It.
There is no consistency for the salaries for the guys who made their debuts. I do find it disapionting these new guys are getting **** pay, even TUF guys are on better deals. Carwin & Yoshida made $12,000 ($6,000 to show, $6,000 to win) Palhares made slighty less. Dong made $40,000 ($20,000 to show, $20,000 to win) which was surprising. Reljic's base pay was only $3,000 :-( . I'm glad he and Palhares got a nice $75k bonus after putting on good performances.
