Are you talking amateur wrestling? I didn't know they ever wrestled agaist each other. Angle is a bit older... also smaller I would think, though both were heaveyweights.

Maybe being new to MMA has me a tad eskewed here but...is this a BAD thing.

Couture had one foot in the door way one foot out right? Now he can retire with dignity and do commentating (which he's tremendous at) while Lesnar faces Nog/Mir. It's not like Lesnar is unbeatable either so the finals of this tournament should be really good.

I also don't think Lesnar is as awful as some people here are making him out to be but that's another story for another time.

I'd like to see Lesnar vs. Gonzaga. That fight kinda turns me on just thinking about it.

Supposedly they decided one day to do the wrestling for real backstage (this is a story that's a bit like all the boxing stories where so and so beat this big star in a sparring session), and Angle always says he won, but per Dave Meltzer on people he talked to that watched, it was fairly equal.

It wouldn't surprise me too much if Angle was the better wrestler. Olympic calibre is much better than NCAA champ.

Nah even Brock knows that Kurt takes it to him on the mat..and Angle has fought guys just as heavy and athletic as Brock...His problem is striking, which brock seems to know a bit of.

Either way this is moot Angles got a broken neck and is too old to start MMA

I dont know, Arlovski when hes right is hard to take down and his boxing skills are getting better by the day.. As with Gonzaga, Brock will do to him what he did to Heath... Gonzaga looks great against mismatches..scary mother****er but you put him against his match he wilts

Brock will beat Mir. Lesnar was handling Mir quite fine until the referee stood them back up. Than Lesnar proceeded to beat on him until he made a mistake and got caught in a leg lock. I doubt Lesnar with an extra year of experience makes the same mistake. We know Lesnar can take Mir down at ease.

But Nog can give him some problems just because hes Nog and usually finds a way to win.

Ok, I've just seen the fight on Youtube. It's kind of odd one for me in the sense that it was actually quite an even fight, Brock wasn't dominating and manhandling Couture and Couture was landing some good punches on Brock and pressing him against the cage. Then *boom* in a split second it was over and that was that. It was kind of building up to be along drawn out war of attrition but Brock ended it very quickly when he landed. He obviously has tremendous power.
So it ended abruptly which was very anti-climactic but.....climactic at the same time.....
Randy definitely gave a good account for himself, he was taken dowm I think once and tried to get on Brocks back but slipped back onto the floor with Lesnar ontop of him.
But Randy stuffed a few takedowns and most interestingly wasn't completley overpowered like Herring was. Randy pinned Brock against the fence several times and nullified, Brocks insane agility and speed. Brock was also slowing down towards the end.
I was impressed with Brock, he did control the fight though, and landed the harder shots (obviously), he is one frightening individual, fast, big and powerful. He's no meat head either, he is learning the game and technique. He is a scary proposition for anyone. He has arrived!

    Tremendous power?

That right hand was weak but it caught Randy in a bad spot and Randy's punch resistance has completely gone.

    The finish was embarassing.
