He didn't quit on his stool, the doctor called it off. Penn was done though after the 3rd round. He was hanging on the fence looking away from the ring. The 4th was just icing.
Alves is huge at WW. He'll give GSP some problems standing but once GSP gets him to the ground he'll dominate him aswell.
Doctor waived it off because he was half passed out on the fence. If BJ said he wanted to continue, the doctor would have let it go. That's the same as quitting in my book. He didn't seem to care when it got waived off. He didn't say, "Give me the last round!"
BJ looked gassed in the 2nd round. I am so dissapointed after I saw how he fought Machida I thought he would be the king of fighters one day. GSP is just so talented and dedicated. BJ is still a great fighter but no one can cope with GSP now. Penn is as talented but GSP is too athletic and big for Penn.
Thats a corner stoppage, there was no point in going back in and getting hurt to the bigger man. How can you lose repect for a guy moving up 15lbs in wieght? He should, and I have always said this, stay at 155. Penn looks in shape and lean at 155 at 170 or more he is flabby and out of shape.
Penn - GSP. Fight had no real action, I mean come on two JABs were highlight of round 3! Penn was out of shape and done after 3 minutes before anything meaningful even landed on him.
