a good reason not to follow UFC: http://mmapayout.com/2008/10/mma-media-matters-can-you-trust-what-you-are-reading/
This is how things are normally done. NASCAR this past June very publicly told its TV partners what they could and could not say as far as their competition. The NFL, NBA, NCAA, and MLB likewise have large influence over their TV partners (not sure about the NHL, although Versus would never say anything bad about them). It's getting old folks. People's incessant b*tching about UFC is really doing nothing but showing they're scared about the sport. Perhaps they need to settle their inferiority complex. If you don't like it, fine. Others do.
As you say, they're simply threatened and scared by it. They can't accept that there's another fight sport out there prospering, offering something else. Both are great sports, people really need to stop their ignorant complaining.
What "Martial Artists" do you think could beat them? Like it or not, what they are doing is very effective. It's been proven time and again that "martial artists" - like kung fu "masters", karate guys, tae kwon do, blah blah - just doesn't work when they are tasked with actually fighting. Jean Claude Van Damme or Stephen Segal or whoever would get their asses beat with simple leg kicks, haymakers and grappling. Maybe it looks like gay lovin when they are wrapped up with each other, but they would break you in half if you tried to fight one of them.
Boxing promoters 'buy off' judges? Now, I know we have all seen terrible decisions that no way a fighter should of won. What do you think is worse?
