I disagree with the third one you're not interested in...Cruz isn't going to **** somebody up like Aldo does but he pretty comfortably outpointed Faber. I think Cruz's movement and speed would give Aldo problems. He is also a very big bantamweight so its not as if he'd be disadvantaged by the size difference.
Ill answer the 3 fights then read your input 1. Andereson DESTROYS St Pierre 2. - 3. I reckon Bones is still a beast at HW, but im going with Cain
just read (red) your second half post totally disagree with you on the Anderson Bones fight, but we've been through this many times before, and you're still wrong
I would be interested in seeing every champ vs champ. Realistically Edgar vs GSP and GSP vs Silva don't look very appealing because the size and recent performances aren't very promising. Cain vs Jones, Jones vs Silva, Edgar vs Aldo, Aldo vs Cruz etc are very attractive. Even Cruz vs Edgar wouldn't be too bad.
:nono You're discounting weight a bit too much here. Cruz may be taller than Edgar in height, but a 20lbs difference at the scales is not a void that can be easily overlooked, it's a huge amount of weight, especially down at that weight region. Beating Faber and Jorgensen is not the same thing as being able to compete physically with Gray Maynard and BJ Penn, not at all. Edgar would be much, much too strong for Dominick.
Excellent post , not often that can be said for you ................... Have to agree with a large percentage of what you said , it was broken down well and accurately too In order of what id like to see the most , here i go : Silva - St Pierre @185 , for all the reasons you have stated , its a match we really need to see , end of discussion Jones - Silva @205 , for one reason only , Silva is as athletically gifted as Jones (if not more so) and has a more refined stand up style , i dont see anybody (including Machida) giving Jones any problems at all , therefore its a case of , well you know what lets see what Anderson Silva can do with him , i agree with every point you raised about the style issues Silva has with Jones , but id choose to ignore that and get on the bandwagon that Silva has a chance :yep Edgar - Aldo @155 , this for me is another of the " has to happen " fights , round about the time of Penn Edgar 1 , i was screaming from the rooftops for Penn Aldo , seen as though Frankie is now seen as the #1 LW in the UFC this has taken the mantle IMO , Aldo is a big FW and the weight gap is only 10lb's , fascinating stylistic clash when you think about Frankie's base discipline wrestling and his ability to secure the TD Aldo - Cruz @145 , if they signed this fight tomorrow as a main event id support that , as much as i see Cruz the underdog here i do like this fight , if he beats Faber again and see's off other contenders i see this fight as a possible this time next year , if Cruz would want it , which i suspect he would Aldo - Melendez @145 , i know he's not a UFC champion / fighter , and i know he's not a FW , while he has the physical dimensions of an averaged size LW , i see some room to drop to 145 for Gilbert , with a little diet watch in between fights (he does seem to walk around at about 170) i think he makes 145 , he does carry around some excess even when at fighting weight , credentials are there to see , it would be a great fight for the UFC PR machine to really get after , there going to be running short of credible fights for Aldo pretty soon , if Melendez would express interest as a 145'er , it would me massive Fights i dont like : Velasquez - Jones @HW While i see this as a fascinating fight , ive never been a fan of small guys fighting genuine HW's , it just doesnt look right , reminds me of Pride , therefore i dont like it .................. feel free to give me **** about that Potential champion vs champion fights id like to see : Just one springs to mind here : St Pierre - Guillard @170 , if the Melvin Guillard express continues , and lets say theoretically he gets a hold of the title (in doing so he'd have to beat some pretty good fighters) given his style , this would put him on a pletherer (in terms of watchability and dominance) that would have people talking that maybe he could be the next coming of BJ Penn @55, he's a massive LW , and i do like the fight bearing in mind that a) St Pierre's WW opponents are thin on the ground now (Diaz & Condit are the only ones remaining) and b) he's a company yes man (GSP) , and Dana doesnt want him in with Silva @185 , which in my mind makes it possible
Cruz cuts, Edgar doesn't. I can't see Edgar carrying much more weight, I can see Cruz carrying more weight. Nevertheless, there is a weight difference but what I'm saying is I would watch it. If Cruz won then wow, if he lost then there is no shame. I said Cruz vs Edgar not Maynard and Penn. I'm not sure about those match ups or Cruz campaigning at 145 let alone 155. 135 and 145 need to develop further like 155 has in recent years. TUF has already shown there are alot of dangerous guys out there wanting to make it. Also alot of 155 will drop down like Griffin and Florian, maybe even Edgar. Maybe they would have all been 145 if those divisions were bigger.
I can't believe no-one's mentioned St. Pierre vs Maynard...Gray certainly has the size to be competitive with GSP
Maynard isn't the champion. The thread is called 'UFC Champion vs UFC Champion'. And anyway, GSP ****ing murders Gray Maynard. It'd be a total demolition. There has never been a lightweight in history who could be competitive with the current version of GSP, he's just too big and too good. Peak Penn was vastly superior to Maynard, and he was unable to deal with peak GSP at GSP's weight class. GSP has dominated bigger, stronger wrestlers than Maynard such as Fitch, Koscheck, Hughes and Shields, so what on Earth makes you think Gray could even make it close with GSP?! He couldn't. Not a chance in hell. :deal
He hasnt. But i would like to see how the fight between bones and overeem would go. As overeem has alot of power, and his stand up muay thai skills are insane and jon jones stand up skills speak for itself. Jon bones jones vs alistair overeem is crazy muay skills + wrestling vs K1 stand up skills + super guillotine + power. I think the weight difference wouldnt be too far apart aswell because jon jones is prettty big for a LHW.
