its 2 different sports. put a sprinter(boxer) and a tri-athlete(MMA) together in a triathlon('fair', MMA rules) and the sprinter might outrun(box) the triathlete but in the other 2 aspects gets blown the **** out and would lose no doubt.
I became a fan of boxing through MMA actually. Historically boxers have done pretty poor in MMA as they can't wrestle. To throw a good punch you have to plant your feet which leaves you open to a takedown unless you have a great sprawl or good enough wrestling/ jiu jitsu to get back up once you're put on your back. If all you needed to be sucessful in MMA was good boxing, MMA would be dominated by golden gloves champs looking to make some great cash. Boxing is a very small peice of the puzzle in MMA. Even the boxing stance changes to a more square stance to account for leg kicks and to minimize the ease at which your opponent can snag single leg takedowns. Apples and Oranges my friend.
Did this get moved from the general forum? Who are all the noobs posting recycled crap? Delete thread please
A boxer would get his legs kicked off Boxers are used to wearing BOXING gloves NOT MMA gloves. The moves they use in boxing to pick off punches DON'T APPLY in MMA. A boxer would get murdered:-(
were do u live u ****ing *****. ill fight u an murder ur bitchass u come to NYC and i wil ****ing kil u
such a standard response. you dont realize how rare the north/south guard is in a MMA fight and it usually doesnt last very long.
Stop being ******ed. Only pathetic simple minded individuals are too stupid to realize that you can like both MMA and Boxing. It isn't as if you can only be a fan of one or the other. I happen to be a huge fan of both sports. At the top level of each sport. In a boxing match, the boxer wins. In an MMA fight, the MMA fighter wins. That's it. Those facts don't mean you have to choose just one sport to be a fan of. Most people here actually like all combat sports, not just boxing.
