sonnen vs jones is perfect example that the ufc is starting to panic a little imo, lower than expected ppv numbers and shite tuf numbers has caused dana to put a fighter into a title shot where in his last 3 fights he lost 2 title fights and edged a disputed decision. Now to me it looks like dana is hoping the sonnen trash talk will generate a few ppv numbers because the fight on paper just doesnt sell. Now im not a boxing loving ufc hater(i enjoy them both) but ufc are really starting to dilute their ppv quality. 3-4 years ago every ppv had a mega fight at the top of the card but now every fighter going in the ufc is a potential title challenger, the big sell of ufc used to be quality of card and best against the best but its starting to go the way of boxing abit now with alot of unworthy ppv cards sort it out
No, JJ v Sonnen belongs on The TUF and PPV..... This is how you build stars outta fighters, this is how you sell more PPVs, and this is how you setup a superfight between JJ and Anderson Silva :deal
This would be brilliant if they were setting up a JJ vs. Silva fight...but they're not. GSP/Anderson is the route they're going and I don't blame them.
If Jones is fighting Sonnen as a keep busy fight and then fight Anderson i would be good with it but then what would happen with GSP/Silva? Personally i would like to see GSP/Silva more
GSP Silva can still be a good fight, with Silva the favorit. assuming Silva wins that, that would make Silva Jones huge.
TUF is not focused on the fight at the end but the show. Jones and Sonnen is going to be a fun show to watch. It was exactly the same thing with Bisping and Miller. No one expected Miller to win but both were good on the show.
