Exactly, the threadstarter needs to stop throwing stones and just watch what he likes, he's a damn FOOL.
coming from someone who has trained in both MMA is much harder. i love all these guys who think anyone can do mma.
I'm just struggling to find the appeal and wanted to give my take on it. Is it still unlicensed in New York? It's not far away from some post nuclear mad max sport where the opponents try and kill each other
I only like MMA when the fighters are fighting straight up. When it goes to the ground, it gets boring. Still respect it as a sport.
The appeal is, it's organized fighting. On top of that, you get a bunch of different disciplines coming together and seeing which one tops the other.
I like MMA for the fact that it gives amateur wrestlers an outlet to turn pro in, since I wrestled before and was disappointed that tremendously talented wrestlers didn't have the chance for professional recognition before. Brock Lesnar winning the heavyweight title in his 4th fight was a proud day for any amateur wrestling fan who likes when the sport gets more exposure, and neither man would've been there if it weren't for their amateur wrestling background. I dislike MMA because of the brainwashed, douchebaggy fans that I've run in to that Dana White's marketing has worked on, the **** wages they pay to even top level fighters in relation to their earnings, and their inferiority complex to boxing and boxers. They do take alot of their marketing tactics from pro wrestling. It is what it is, but it's no use getting offended when it's mentioned. Yes, an extremely green MMA fighter just won your heavyweight title because MMA skills are overrated and a bit of a misnomer- having world class specialized skills in a number of other styles can overcome the lack of "MMA skills" fairly easily- much more quickly than it takes to develop into a world class boxer. Another special message fo the "MMA would kill boxers in a real fight" crowd. Yes, because real streetfights take place inside a cage with a ref that stops fights quickly and everyone always abides by rules in a streetfight, too. Boxing and MMA are both sports, period. If people are infatuated with watching human cockfighting with absolutey no rules and a number of gruesomely violent possibilities, go start **** in a bar in a bad neighborhood and videotape the results.
Fair to say, I train in the sport and I find it awesome both ways. But I understand from a viewers stand point. Watching two guys on the ground is boring but think of what they are going through, and what they are doing to not get hit or doing so they can land the clean punch. So much goes into it.
