The last show WAS rubbish, but my point was the format is more the problem than the fighters. The standard of fighter is steadily improving in the UFC, that means fitter guys with more skills that can go longer than three five minute rounds. When these UFC guys are making more dough than many boxers with title belts they should be pushed harder! Bisping vs Evans was just starting to look like a fight and then it's all over. :verysad If a non title fight fight is topping a card it should be a five rounder, no debate. Two more rounds and one of these fighters is TKO'd. Much more satisfactory for the paying punter and both fighters than a BS judges decision. :good
I agree with you. These guys are NOT unskillled. They are rounded fighters, and someone like Couture would kick most HW boxers asses in a no holds barred street fight.
Couture couldnt even take one punch from a top 10 Heavyweight, Couture would get knocked out cold. In a street fight who knows what would happen, if a UFC guy got a boxer on the ground they would probably win, If a Heavyweight boxer hit a UFC guy it would probably be over.
I said street fight, and I didnt say top 10 HW. And without gloves one wrong punch will fck up your hand, what goods your boxer then? Anyone that's been in street brawl knows hands get damaged easily. Elbows, knees, forearms - these cause big damage and don't need ice buckets after one hit on the back of some guys head. I'd back Couture, Henderson, Jackson, Silva, Serra against 95% of boxers in a street brawl.
They are not unskilled but they arent highly skilled either. ... UFC will have you think that way...Look at Karo for example they lie about him ..oh hes an olympic alternate from his country Armenia..but he choose MMA instead. Bull****! First he cant even make the team for Armenia or whatever country...theres alot of countries in the world bro. Whos the most skilled? ...BJJ guys are the most skilled..How many Black belts BJJ wise in MMA..not many..someone who can execute moves. How many world class kickboxers?? They're in K1 ..Crocop is the highest level here a middle of the road KB from K1 who when he came to UFC was considered the best stand up fighter in MMA Whos an Olympic Gold medalist in MMA..some Judo guys like Nastula 40 years old.! Rulon Gardner..retired from top level comp... Lindland is a Silver Medalist and hes considered a top guy again entered MMA past his best remember that theres not enough money in MMA to attract Top Top level people..If these guys can really do 1 thing great they be in different sports...In saying that Anderson Silva can box pro
I agree, I have ****ed up my hand twice in a street fights. All I got to say is probably would only take one for a Heavyweight boxer to lay out a UFC guy, but as I said before if a UFC got a boxer on the ground it would probably end up bad for the boxer.
The name of the game in mma is WELL ROUNDED. One doesnt have to be HIGHLY SKILLED in ONE disipline to be highly skilled. Are you not a highly skilled fighter if youre pretty good at everything? Being GREAT at one sport means almost nothing in MMA. Sure.. its a nice base.. but it wont get you far. Crocop may not have been the best kickboxer.. but his style translated well to MMA because he's got one shot knockout power. Also.. he developed some takedown defense. A lot of GREAT Judo guys don't do well in MMA because they can't grab onto the gi. Thats why Karo is so good. He can do judo throws without the gi. He translated what he knows about Judo to MMA. A lot of the really world class jujitsu guys don't do well in mma.. cause its a whole different game when someone is punching you in the face.
More importantly, MMA fighters are skilled at MMA, it is more than a combination of styles, more than the sum of its parts.
Did you see the Rashad/Bisping...How come if they are sooo well rounded they cant kick and throw a combination? Boy Id rather have Karo finished a damn fight than do Judo throws..look Im a reasonable guy..and I guess my friends too because we were all wondering about the same thing. Im not asking Karo to finish every fight..it is impossible. But finished someone once in a while and stop gassing once in a while..you know once every 5 fights finish someone. And for rashad..Stop climbing that that hill of tears..It aint doing him good..2 minutes after ..again unless Im blind 35 punches and 2 takedown attempt..hes gassed??
Yea, but Sambo is VERY much like MMA. Thats why he's good at this IMO. Cause the transitions between ground and stand up come to him in a flow unlike someone with single background in grappling or stand up.
I have watched over 100 ufc fights, including the top guys like Liddel and Couture, and have yet to see a bona fide martial artist. They are nothing more than streetfigters, plain and simple.
What is there to know? When you see some fool standing there an getting hit, the conclusion is obvious, he has no fighting skills.
Oh, really? I thought it was rambo......or was that shitbo? Have to admit though, he is the best damn streetfighter I have seen in years.
