Well, Bas did this stuff for a living plus he's a coach. Same thing with Couture or Lennox. They KNOW what two fighters should be doing. Those guys provide a lot of insight and accurate critique. Thats why people like that are guest announcers.
Main announcers are all about hyping **** up. Though I agree with you, I've noticed it quite a few times where he just tries too hard or something. I.E. Kos vs George St.Pierre "This is THE BEST TWO athletes to have EVER faced in a COMBAT sport", and you can see on his face that he doesn't believe the crap that is coming out of his mouth. Im pretty sure Dana just requires him to hype things up even it requires lying through his teeth.

Just the job he has IMO. I just don't like when people say Rogan has no clue wtf he's talking about while they have no clue that he's a brown belt and he's actually CORRECT(about grappling mostly) in what he is saying.

Whats the point of martial arts, forget all the mystical bull****, what is the actual cause for their formation?

    Fighting.

So if the streetfighter is winning fights, he is a martial artists, just not one who has a ponytail and a magical death touch.

Do you not consider wresting a martial art? Judo? Boxing? The problem isn't that there are no martial artists, the problem is you don't know what that truely means.

I have seen martial artists and have briefly trained with them. They go far beyond wrestling and boxing. Comparing ufc with marial arts is like comparing Muhammad Ali with Sam Peter.

I think the problem at the moment is that the rules maybe do kind of limit it, I agree. I was always more of a PRIDE fan than a UFC one, thinking back I think that they would run these hilarious mismatches a lot of the time made for a lot of the fun. Behind the top, top guys in every division you've got a bunch of fighters with generally similar charectaristics which can lead to a bunch of boring matches. Generally everyone is competent on the ground, ok at wrestling and blah blah. Talking of people like Diego Sanchez and the like here.

Also I really think they need to do something to stop takedowns being so emphasised on points wise in decisions. People like Evans winning fights by taking guys down and then doing nothing with it is pretty dull. Dominating is fine, but you should only score points if they're working towards finishing the guy, imo. Otherwise we end up with champions like Sean Sherk who just take people down and dry hump them for five rounds.

Exactly like it, because Muhhammed ALi may be wildly entertaining, be known for his philosophy and ability to attract people to him and to ideas, but Sam Peter would beat the ever loving **** out of him right now.

So yea, Ali might be more eloquent, but he still has a crippling disease, just as most martial artists suffer from crippling lack of reality.

That's where you're wrong, my friend.

All the UFC needs to do is implement the card system that was present in Pride.

P.S. The UFC needs to acquire the rights to Kid Yamamoto to add some spice to their Lightweight division.

P.P.S. Fedor is gay . . . and Douchebag Emalienenko sucks.

Just because somebody cooked a bit of chop suey doesn't make him an oriental chef. It is only the "******s" that get in the cage.
