Not so Long ago, both middleweight and welterweight were White hot. And now? woodley is probably the most hated/boring ufc champ of all time......but who can beat him? look at the contenders: Thompson has already fought him twice and is anything but a sure bet to beat him. maia has just lost. lawler? ko´d already. masvidal? cerrone? nope. rds? no way. Alex Oliveira? neil magny?colby covington? kamaru Usman?? i just dont see it.
in other words: Name one fight at welter (and dont bring up McGregor) you´d be thrilled to see.
and at middleweight?? bisping gets to fight another unranked fighter..........and is he wins, he´ll probably get "injured" just enough not to fight Whitaker or any other actual contender for at least until next summer/autumn.

    two once hot devisions............now wastelands.

    fukkkkk you dana!

Actually I'd love to see McGregor vs Woodley. But failing that the best chance to beat him is probably Nick Diaz who can strike and grapple as well as Woodley. Rory MacDonald has a chance at repeating his victory as well.

MW, yeah Bisping is a crap fight. Whitaker being injures doesn't excuse it, I'd rather see Weidman get a shot over him.

The new owners only want freakshows.... Jones called out Lesnar, wouldn't be surprised if the fight actually gets made. Meanwhile Gustafsson and Oezdemir sit and collect dust... Oh yeah. Pretty much the entire UFC(only 1 event) and to a lesser extent the sport are coming to a screeching halt next month so all of attention can be on the biggest farce in the history of combat sports.

See I like Woodley in terms of matchmaking. I've no issues with him.

There's only really two divas in UFC and that's McGregor and Bisping. McGregor says win or lose he'll fight Khalid next and if he does that does wonders for the sport.

Bisping needs to face a live body soon, we can't have him making so much money off one good win.

macdonald is with bellator. diaz is basically retired. nate diaz.....nah, even if it happens, woodley would wrestlefukk him for 5 rounds ( like ben Henderson did).

Yeah they should try and get Rory back. Nick is semi retired but he's probably one of the best out there still.

Unless the 2nd Lawler fight completely ruined him, I see reason to suggest why he couldn't shut Woodley out again. The Thompson and Maia fights indicate to me that the Rory who fought him a few years back beats him today without much issue.

Depends how much Woodley has come on since then. Is the lacklustre display because he's at his absolute maximum or is it because he's not had to raise a gear?

I mean right now you could argue he's the best striker and the best grappler in the division.

i totally agree. hes the complete package. he is the one who decides where the fight goes. just like gsp. and he is saftey first.........just like gsp. he outstrikes the best grapplers and wrestlefukkks the best strikers.

Woodley hasn't evolved at all since then tbh. Still the same power wrestler with fast and powerful hands and solid low kicks. The negative and lack of engaging backfoot approach he still takes would hurt him against MacDonald again.

I disagree mate. His striking and wrestling have come on leaps and bounds to the point where every fighter in the WW division would be an underdog against him

The thing is Khabib needs to fight Fergerson first imo, Khabib is a beast clearly but he has feasted on mediocre opposition and only has 2 top 10 wins and has recent issues even making lightweight.

Im not a fan of Woodley or how he fights but I agree with this, unfortunately this fight was always going to go this way with Maia trying and mostly failing at getting the TD. Woodley I think stopped all 24 TD attempts from Maia who doesn't have a plan B if he cant get fight to the ground.
