UFC Maybe In Trouble

Survivor Series? lol, WWE got 250,000 buys. Well, atleast those kiddies aren't spending their pocket money on drugs.

Anyway, the UFC have got to start putting on better main events. I had a feeling those last couple wouldn't sell ****. I wasn't interested in them at all myself.

Two guys you weren't sure whether they were shot in Belfort-Franklin? And ancient Couture-Vera? Cmon, most people aren't gonna pay for that ****.

And for 106, Tito hadn't fought in ages and Griffin was coming off two losses in which he was pummelled. They were just names, and the only other fight worth a lick was Koscheck vs A.Johnson. I'm not surprised not too many people bought it.

 

Those are still respectable numbers. More than enough to pay cover costs and rake in a good profit.

They would have done around a million buys if the Brock Lesnar/Shane Carwin main event had gone ahead.

It's far too early to say the UFC is in trouble. With so many injuries, especially to the champions, numbers may stay low for a little while. UFC 108 will probably bomb and UFC 109 also lacks star power, but after that they should pick up.

 

UFC needs some direction in making new stars. Theyre dropping like flies these days, eveyrone is getting old.

 

This theory of the UFC being in trouble sweeps around bi-annually... they are fine.

 

This is not new information, The UFC have peaked. The problem is you have no true blue chip prospects on the horizon. But at the end of the day, they might be forced to cut down PPV cost and put it on free TV, which would be good for us.

 

The UFC hasn't had a properly stacked card since UFC 100. Although I considered the Machida/Rua a super fight - there has been a decided lack of super fight match ups through the latter half of 2009. They have the talent pool to draw from. They just need to start putting them on the same cards again.

Haven't they learned a thing from the over saturation of WWE?

 

They are fine they just need some big cards.

 

Basically they have had a string of what were intended to the final support fight before the main event moved up to the main event because of injuries or other problems.

If the main events stayed the main events for those cards, they would have been a lot better.

 

Exactly, alot of cards lately have been injury riddled and it's not easy to set up a good main event on short notice.

 

Successfull evolution of rival companies such as Strikeforce, will improve the entire sport. Competition is a wonderfull thing, monopolies suck.

 

to many PPV, it is as simple as that, MMA fans are getting hosed, everything is PPV, they need a cable network to put some good money for fight cards and get rid of dana white, they need to cut back there PPV to 6 to 8 a year, boxing has the right models now with PPV in USA, only the big fights with HBO PPV.
