Ill give you a list that doesn't even have Mayweather, Pac, or Cotto on it. ----------------------- Danny Garcia Donaire Broner Berto Ortiz Ward Alexander Peterson Bradley Rios Alvarado Marquez Golovkin Guerrero Canelo Matthysse Gamboa Hopkins Kirkland Quillan Lara Martinez Have all made a million in one of their recent fights. That's without touching the british and European markets (Wlad, Haye, Chisora, Fury, Froch, Abraham, Sturm, ect, ect, ect) I don't know where this idea that only a handful of boxers make good money comes from, but its wrong. Obviously only the tip of the pyramid in boxing make great money, that's with all things in life... but theres a lot of boxers making good money and million dollar paydays.
As a Canadian, and one who lives in Vancouver, they had two UFC fights here. One UFC 115 did 17669 in attendance and brought in 4M at the gate, while the last one did 13,506 and a little more than 1M at the gate. Huge drop. now that GSP is gone, it will either drop further or at best stay flat and I'm saying this as a fan of both sports.
He gave a pretty long list of fighters that made at least 1 million, you sure do support a sport you claim to not follow at all. :hi:
Haha, these deflections. I don't buy that you don't follow UFC either seeing how zealously you're defending it here.
What does that have to do with anything about what we are talking about His last fight was Rod and he made damn near $2,000,000 for that fight. Which is what we are talking about. In fact, that goes further to prove my point. Ward isn't that big of a star, is a part time fighter, and still is pushing a cool 2 mill against a no name opponent. How much is Ronda making again? :think  Barcham... are you being serious right now? (GGG accent) You pick out a name three fighters from last who would have made 1.4 million, and will likely make close to a million if not more against Lee... to try and weaken the argument? Give me a break. How bout I replace Quillan with Bute (vs Pascal), or Wilder (vs Stiverne), or Pascal? Then you will be happy to learn that each fighter listed has made or is booked to make a million or close to (within 150k) outside of a fight with mayweather or pac, or cotto :good I quoted you on that few boxers make million dollar purses. That's it. Im not saying MMA isn't more popular right now then boxing is in America. But boxing has many million dollar a fight fighters outside of Mayweather, Pac, and Cotto. That speaks for itself. I don't even know why you added this paragraph. You said 'few boxers make a million dollars', and the fact is that plenty do. And the amount of boxers that are making million dollar paydays shows the health of the sport. That's all.
I suppose it comes down to semantics on how you are using the term 'a few'/'few', but to me you are/were saying that not many boxers make a million dollar paydays. Semantics. Is there few criminals in LA? Or a lot? Someone could say 'Theres a lot of criminals in LA' and they would be right, despite the amount of law abiding citizens being an overwhelming majority. 'Theres very few criminals in LA' doesn't sound right, even though they are in the minority. To me it seemed clear you were implying there wasn't a lot of fighters that get million dollar paydays in boxing. If you were saying that only the top fighters that have made it to the big leagues get good paydays in boxing, well no ****. That's almost every aspect of the real world. Point is, theres lots of boxers in the world making million dollar purses, and you could practically take 1/4 of them and its more then how many mma fighters are making that kind of money. Again, that speaks for itself.
