Says who? I was drinking a bit earlier and am a big Alvarez fan/find Poirier annoying but he's a solid glass cannon. While he might win some of those fights he doesn't in anywhere near the same kind of consistency. Alvarez has consistently performed when it mattered and Poirier has usually fallen short that's the difference.

    What a win for Aldo.

    Sickening body combo.

    Great comeback by Poirier.

Reminds me a lot of Mir Vs Lesnar were a slight infringement leads to a reset and the losing guy takes his chance and capitalises.

Can't fault him for the way he took the bull by the horns after the reset

I was on the end of a bender from the night before when I started watching the main card fights and replied to you and I couldn't even understand 1 of my replies to you lol.
Watching a replay this morning the elbow didn't land so perhaps may not have warranted a stand up but I have no idea what Alvarez was thinking while in that dominant position and losing it because of a low percentage illegal 12 to 6 strike and was lucky it didn't land and do damage which could have resulted in a DQ.
Alvarez is a warrior like Poirier and I love and respect how he has fought over a long period having a far superior resume to Poirier unless Poirier were to continue on this impressive run and beat either Khabib or Connor for the title.

After re-watching the fights today I just have to say if we had more fighters like those involved in the main and co-main for this event, who continually put it on the line to deliver fan friendly action fights, this sport would be even bigger then it is currently.
In the UFC especially with the owners making such huge profits,I think the fighters and not just the big personalities deserve as much as they can get with exciting fighters who fans want to watch most deserving,I like the idea of the performance and fight of the night bonuses but that 50k should be the minimum amount given.
More often then not tho it's the boring and/or conservative style of fighter who are constantly complaining about there pay or lack of coverage lol.

I See Eddie Alvarez the other day saying he reckoned all fighters are underpaid and he has a point

He's right and unfortunately that was possibly his last fight in the UFC if he doesn't get a new contract that pays more, hopefully losing to Poirier didn't hurt his cause but hopefully they can keep him with plenty of good fights that can be made with him.
