Does this really need to be discussed again? There are things that work in MMA that won't work in boxing. Looping punches work with smaller gloves because there's less padding and it's harder to put on earmuffs and block punches Winky Wright style. Also, with kicks and takedowns you have to square up your stance and change the balance on your front foot. It makes you look like a lousy boxer, but it makes you a much more effective MMA fighter. Watch more than one MMA match and you'll see exactly what I mean.

I'm sure you can fight better. Erm uh...you do understand MMA and boxing are two different sports and are fought differently don't you?

White is throwing fits because the fight ended early, thats all. Since he didn't PPV this-wanted to have a big show on FOX. Thats all.

Didn't I warn you to GTFO?

Wow. I sure didn't see that coming. At least we got a nice TKO. Go Cigano. Couldn't have happened to a more deserving fighter.

Any links to Dana spitting his dummy out post-fight? Thom said it was worth a watch.

The main issue in my opinion about Dana being upset after the show wasn't so much that Cain got startched so quick as it was the company had an opportunity to pick up new viewers and fans showing the fight live for free and I think he felt he let the fans down.

In Boxing or MMA nothing is certain.

-UFC lost millions not doing this PPV
-The headliner went way too fast.
-UFC decided to not air the Guida fight which turned out to be a great one.

Dana and co rolled the dice and things didn't work out as planned. So you win some, you lose some.

Not so sure this is as bad as everyone thinks. Velasquez has ZERO charisma. And channel surfers who suddenly clicked on to this show may have indeed become fans after all. Knock-outs are cool. Boring rolling around on the ground is not.

White and friends will realize things are as bad as they thought.

It was Fox's call to only air one fight on the broadcast not the UFC's.

this fight was on free to air here in Aus, So i gave it a shot, And was let down, Can anyone in this sport protect themselves? they fail to perform basic defensive skills against strikes. Arms are always down low and wide apart, i Saw a KO coming as soon as the opening bell went. Yes UFC can be explosive at times and intense but when a fight is hyped up as "The Biggest HW Fight of All time" and i see 2 guys who cant even hold there arms up its a little underwhelming and I wouldnt be the only one thinking this.

I have nothing against tis sport, Im a Boxing guy and after giving this sport a few chances it has failed to interest me.

Some basic things you do not understand about mma, the reason for the lower hands is that it both allows you to shoot for takedowns and defend takedowns.

If you had a high guard with your hands close together which allows you to defend head shots easier, then its horrible for defending wrestling takedowns.

I suggest you go down to an MMA gym or watch more MMA, you have to adapt the other sports, Boxing, Muay Thai, BJJ and wrestling. If you box like your in a boxing match or kickbox like your in Thai match you will get taken down.

If your hands are as low as they are in wrestling you will get KO'd and if you play Jiu Jitsu like your in JJ match then when your on your back you will get your face ground and pounded to ****.

sounds good, but considering in todays fight the challenger had no intention of taking the champion to the ground, the champ should have raised his hands to defend himself against a well known head striker with KO power.

because he didn't he was KOed fast.

as for Junior Cigano dos Santos, All you guys need is a good puncher who has decent hand speed and good defense and they will tear him apart, His open to every shot in the book.

    ANYWAY, lets agree to disagree.

Who says I disagree with what you said?

I think Overeem will beat Dos Santos, or at least has a much better chance than Cain.

You do underestimate JDS's hands, he is however a bit easy to hit. But damn to say "all you need" and then describe that its like your talking about a boxing match, which it is not.

    WHAT THE ****?

I seen that gay ****. I seen the boxing last night exchanging about 100 punches per fighter of the one that knocked out Cain, yet those guys didn't even ****in wobble.

Then I seen two bar fighters with no speed and no rythmm, and a guy gets knocked out with a punch on the head.

What the **** is this bull****?

Most people don't PAY A MAN to wrestle him.

    YOU DO THAT.

YOU GOT ISSUES...or you can come out the closet.

    It's up to YOU.
