Awesome night of fights. **** Charlie Brenneman, ****ing lay and pray douche bag, seriously, I was screaming for Roberts to get that sub at the end. Everyone else put on awesome fights, even if the heavyweights looked like they were fighting in slow motion.
Good fight night. Good to see Barry working on his ground game and Moorecraft has a decent one who did submitt McCorkle and beat the **** out of Struve with GNP but Barry survived. Beautiful KO with the slip and come up top with the hook. Pat Barry is one of my favorite fighters to watch if that kid can just get some serious takedown defense then look out because very few can stand with him. Papazi and Easton was an amazing fight. Good wrestling skills displayed, the clinch work was excellent and I just loved the standup exchanges. The fight was a tossup IMO when it was over, could have went either way. With the depature of Mighty Mouse and Benavidez to Flyweight I think Bantamweight just added some real solid guys. Duane Ludwig was really impressing me. Always has great striking but looked especially on point in this fight and I thought early on he was earn himself a knockout and put together 3 consecutive UFC wins. Great job but Neer though that guy is very tough and always has been, very underated fighter. Beautiful Guillotine I knew when he applied it that it was over. Ludwig really needs to committ to working on his ground game though hes like Barry there great strikers but who wants to stand with them when they can probably submitt them ? Melvin Guillard IMO is another Ludwig or Barry. Take a year and learn some Jiujitsu defense. Also when does Guillard learn to stop throwing flying knees over and over ? If it aint landing stop so of course you get took down. Jim Miller is the last guy to **** around with hes too intelligent and tough. Great job because Melvin's incredible athletic ability almost allowed him to escape the back control by Miller but Miller's Jiujitsu really is top notch.
Great night of fights. I must admit I feel bad for Melvin. Hope he doesn't lose it mentally, he has ALOT of stand up talent. Neer and Ludwig delivered for as long as it lasted. Easton is compact but a little tense. Good potential. Barry was awesome. I found myself rooting for him at the start then even more as he defended subs that previously would have ****ed him up.
Barry looked like **** imo. He was taken down easily, and each time mounted. That win can be chalked up to luck.
If this fight was a year ago he would have been subbed in seconds on hitting the ground, he had a couple nice escapes and avoided the sub attempt......I wouldn't totally call it luck.
His armbar escape was good, but he won't beat any top level guys if he can't stop a takedown or keep from getting mounted. A better grappler would have finished those submissions. It was just as much bad technique by Moorecraft, as it was good by Barry. It was terrible technique to begin with that got him instamounted.
true enough, Barry is limited but has the tools to beat some good fighters , I think it's to late for him to really develope a solid ground game but at least he did show improvement last night.
He's a decent guy and his fights are exciting. As long as he puts on entertaining fights the UFC will keep him around. I just expected more out of him after training with all those wrestlers. Hell, a great sprawl would make him a dangerous guy. Chuck and Mirko made careers out of sprawl and brawl.
