Dana tried to sign Fedor. He probably tried harder to sign Fedor than he has ever tried to sign anyone. Of course once he realizes that it going to be IMPOSSIBLE for him to sign Fedor he is not going to sign him.

Do you think if he could have brought Fedor on instead of Hunt he wouldn't have? Of course he is still interested, but if he can't sign him you can't expect him to continue to devote all of his time to it from now until Fedor's retirement. Give it a rest.

Wow Hunt is the last guy i would have expected to see in the UFC. SF definitly but the UFC? What on earth for? Hunt has been out of sorts for ages and was even KO'ed by Manhoef. Im not entirely sure why the UFC or what capacity he's supposed to serve.

Simple reason to sign Hunt. He is a huge name in NZ and in Aus.. The place is super ripe for a big events.

In the article, Hunt suggests that he has to win in order to make it onto another card. He is going to be facing a fighter that is 9-0. It looks like the UFC will capitalize on Hunt's name if he wins, or let him be a stepping stone for an up and coming prospect.

Guys like Hunt, Yvel, Rothewell etc are there to act as cannon fodder for the elite fighters.

Hunt is owed a four fight contract by the UFC, dating back to the PRIDE buyout in 2007.

Even Dana wouldn't hire a 5-6 guy coming off five first round losses.

He hashas lost his last five fights, but look at who those were against:

    Gegard Mousasi
    Melvin Manhoef
    Alistair Overeem
    Fedor Emelianenko
    Josh Barnett

That is a pretty solid list of competitors.

Yep there looking to put on a card in Melbourne next Feb 2011..... if not Melbourne than Sydney given Melbourne still has a no-go policy on MMA or cage fighting.

I guess they want a few NZ or Aussie fighters to get the inteest levels up.

That's a good point. Don't get me wrong I think he's shot to **** but there are plenty of active UFC fighters that would lose five straight to that group, I think.

He also wants to discredit Fedors win over him. Watch some shmo will beat Hunt and they will say "See he beat him better the Fedor" "Fedor sucks". How much do you want to bet?
