The UFC and WEC only has 80% of the best fighters in the world. Its not a monopoly at all unlike the NFL, NBA and MLB.
Bad analogy. The NBA NFL and MLB are LEAGUES with independant franchises's. The UFC is not a league. Its an independant franchise that doesnt operate under the governance of any league other than to observe the rules imposed by NSAC and the unified MMA rules. Other than that it does what is best for itself within its business model. It most certainly IS a monopoly as it has the largest of the MMA market share with little in the way of serious competition since PRIDE's demise.
Whats that go to do with anything? First off the IFL filed for chapter 11. Secondly they were a fight PROMOTION who tried to adopt a League concept. The UFC havent done anything even close to that. There just a franchise nothing more or less.
How do we know this if the UFC refuses to let its fighters fight the champions of other promotions. We cant rely on UFC biased American publications and ranking system for guidance. Look at Anderson Silva for example who is regarded as the best ever UFC fighter, yet Anderson has 3 looses and 4 wins against Japanese fighters and all of his losses were fights outside the UFC. This just shows that the UFC doesnt have the top fighters and that Anderson has won all in the UFC because he is fighting inferior fighters........look at how bored his is nowdays.
