UFC President Dana White's Fails

****ing yawn. Amazing how many of you get off on making up stories about Dana White.

 

UFC seems to be doing pretty well.

 

It was all good but the last line was the best

 

Chill out, I think they've been more than adequately rewarded, don't you?


They essentially created a monopoly on one of the fastest growing sports in the world, and the UFC is reportedly worth about a $1B, if true, I'd say that's a pretty good return on their investment, would you?

 

Be that as it may, I think it would be hard not to give credit to Dana White for making the UFC what it is today. He's basically a non stop promotion machine and it's the instant sellouts, the Spike contract and the $$ spend so we actually get to know the fighters that has caused the UFC to grow so much. In boxing it seems like you're watching fighter x fight fighter y, and unless you can relate to them on some level, it's hard to care who wins. The UFC does a great job of promoting the fighters who raise to the top. That said, I'm not a fan of the $$$ the lower esheon fighters are making, they are almost slaves..but the options they have are limited..

 

Finally a grown up

 

First off I said "Zuffa" and "them". Not just Dana but the three of them.

Secondly its absurd to say that without Dana's un-PC persona they'd be on national television when they've already came close to doing deals with networks. The sticking point has always been the level of control the UFC wants to keep over its product...a very different issue.

Thirdly White does not think the people want to see him - I can't remember the last time I actually heard Dana say a word on camera at a UFC PPV. And actually bud Vince McMahon started his career as his father's lead announcer - he's been on television for almost as long as White's been alive.

Fourthly when has White said that he would kick somebody's ass? When has he actually said that? That's right he (with the possible exception of Tito) he hasn't. So what exactly does he need to step in the ring to back up?

 

MMA would have grown with or without Dana White. How it would have happened would be purley speclective, but maybe you forgot about a org called PRIDE? Their are many fighters that started their carrer before the ufc became what it is today, before it became a success.

So Vince Mcmahon didnt help make Pro wrestling more popular? You think that don kings promotions like the Rumble in the Jungle didnt give boxing a boost in popularity?

It is fun having you around Mr cooling, your bull**** is uniquely blatant perhaps even to legendary proportions. For this reason I can never dislike you, your far too entertaining.:yep

I find it amusing that I am told to be grateful to dana white consistently when anyone is critical of him, he isnt doing what he does for me. I am never told to be grateful to the shopowner who sells me their goods or to my landlord for letting me live on their property only Dana White when he in his infinite generosity allows me to partake of HIS MMA. I should be grateful to none of them it is a business arrangement they are getting paid which is the reason they are doing what they are doing in the first place.

 

All the Dana White bashing is getting a bit boring.

The bloke has some good and bad traits, so what.

 

thats not even the issue, it's the things that come out of his mouth thats the issue of the video.

Are people really that surprised that Dana White the president of the largest MMA org is held accountable (by some) for the things he says directly pertaining to MMA?

It irritates me at times, and sometimes I feel the need to comment. Then his defenders come in to the mix and it draws the whole thing out. Thats from my perspective anyway...

truer words were never written, but it takes a man of self control to not be drawn into these sorts. My resolve must reach a higher level.

 

Well as you may well know that elite organization called Pride essentially went bankrupt so Dana White and Zuffa took a chance that after several failed attempts, MMA could be adjusted in terms of the rules neccessary to keep various combat (formally known as boxing) commissions on board, and at the same time, maintain and grow fan appeal. Since many have tried and failed in the past, it was risky committment to take millions of dollars and pour it into advertising to see what would happen. They were fortunely enough that through SPIKE and other marketing technics they expanded their fan base, and because they essentially had a monopoly on both the sport itself and the wages fighters received, they offloaded a substanial amount of risk to the fighters while retaining any upside that unfolded in this plan.

It was well thought out right from the beginning and the fact there's a thread on Dana White, and the fact he's a household name, tells you his involvement was instrumental.
