To anyone who doesn't like MMA, you should go and grab a copy of the 'Smashing Machine'.
It's a doco about Mark Kerr, and focuses on a few others briefly. Dates back to the mid to late 90's and early 00's.

It may not make you swap camps, but it should give you an idea as to how focused the top guys are.

 

I don't mind them being on the ground, as long the guy making the takedown is trying to do damage or attempting submissions.

IMO the rules need to be changed. Holding the fence should be allowed to give guys on the bottom a better chance of getting up. Knees and soccer kicks to the head also need to be brought back in as a deterrent for fighters going to ground.

Fighters should also be stood up if it's obvious the guy on top is just lying on top for control without doing anything, under the guise of working for position. I see that as the same as someone just running without throwing any punches in the standup. They don't get points even if they don't get hit, why should grapplers get points for basically doing the same on the ground?

I have a copy of the Smashing machine bought a couple of years ago. It was even played on SBS one night a couple of years back. Very disturbing about the drug use and his nutcase of a wife lol.

The best part is him getting the top of his head Knee'd in by that Ukranian mofo, Igor Vochancan (bad spelling), that was brutal!!

I just wish Fedor and the UFC would come to an agreement! Then the whole world could see how size means nothing, technique, speed and a solid game plan win fights all night!! Watch Fedor v Hong Man Choi or even against Kevin Randleman!!
