What motivation would DW have to save face for Diaz? He's only had a few fights in that timespan, the fights with Condit and GSP they used specific gameplans to limit the activity of the fight. If you want to blame anybody for those lacklustre fights, blame them. The Silva fight was decent and he did about as well as a WW going up a division to fight a roided out Silva could be expected to do.

I think Nick has a secured status as an ATG WW for now tbh.

Better than Lawlor, Newton,Sakurai and Miletich, behind Hughes, Shields, Sakuraba, Gracie and Pierre.

I'm not criticizing the fights for being lackluster... But rather his weak performances and bickering after the fact.

They weren't weak performances, he just got outclassed by better fighters who used safety first gameplans to win. Yeah it was annoying when he bitched after the GSP fight when he was clearly beaten but the scoring of the Condit fight was highly controversial tbf. I don't remember him saying anything negative about the decision after the Silva fight, I could be wrong about that though.

Condit was pretty clear tbh. That was Nick last decent performance though. Most of the whining came from the Diaz camp and Diaz fanboys. It was a lame gameplan from Condit but he did more than enough to win.

A large percent of the MMA community was divided on that decision, not just Nick’s legion of fanboys. Personally, I thought it could’ve gone either way. Diaz clearly won round 2, Condit clearly won rounds 3 and 4. 1 and 5 were close and could’ve been scored either way. Anything from 49-46 Condit to 48-47 Diaz were reasonable scores imo.

It really comes down to what you think was more effective. Condit’s teeps, oblique kicks and low kicks or Diaz’s volume punching and come forward pressure.

They are stars in and out of the ring and must watch TV even when they are not fighting because they are so real and you just don't no what they will do or say. You can call the Diaz brothers over rated but they have been at or near the top of there respective divisions for a while now with both having many quality wins that you and others have tried to downplay, only losing to the very best and almost always in entertaining fights. You can call the fan base delusional but even other fighters are fans of both brothers who are easily amongst the most popular fighters in the UFC having so many main stream fans including many top celebrities that are lining up to hang out with them.

This plodding forward aimlessly you talk about is him wanting to initiate and fight, that's why they have the big fan base because they are trying to give fans what they want a proper ****in fight. Diaz brothers don't get beat they just run out of time. The blueprint is out there to beat them in boring fashion that sum have followed to win, but it sure as hell doesn't win them any new fans, in fact it just helps makes the Diaz bothers legend grow

How are they ridiculously overrated? I don't see many ppl calling them GOAT or top tier ATGs which would be over rating them. They were very good fighters (Nick more so), who both had long and very memorable careers fighting with an exciting high paced style. Some excellent wins between the two of them, far more than merely respectable. Don't tell me you grew sour on them after Nate beat your boy lol.

Sherdog is a cesspool, haven't been on there in years. Every fighter has some crazy delusional fanboys who think their guy is the GOAT, that's just the way it is. For the most part I see people calling them what they were, very good fighters who had entertaining scraps.

Well. The Diaz fanboy are probably some of the most delusional and toxic in the entire sport that I've encountered, going all the way back too 2010-2011 and since. I can definitely admit that they're solid fighters who have been in some good fights(especially Nate) but yeah... They can be extremely overrated in some very vocal circles.

People tend to gravitate towards and make excuses for entertaining action-first fighters, that's just natural. You definitely won't see many Shields or Fitch fanboys. I don't let psycho fanboys ruin my appreciation for fighters, Diaz bros gave value for money nearly every time.

Nick Diaz vs Gomi was one of the best wars I've ever seen, best fight on that card by a long shot. That's saying a whole lot as pride 33 was an amazing fight card.

I consider Gomi to be a far better fighter than Nick for the reasons you described in your Jones thread. Good fight though. Gomi while completely shot gave Nate a good fight too.
