A monumental one at that. The main event blew.Karo was actually in a boring fight.Shock horror of the night Alexander has no GROUND GAME and gets pummeled into submission.Well we knew this was a **** card from the outset turned out to be even worse than ****.
This was probably the worst UFC card I have seen in a very very long time. All fights IMO were extremely boring. What is very strange is that Houston Alexander fought completely different than what we have seen from him in past two fights. Not sure if it was the pressure and he cracked or what. The guy he fought did nothing special. Even guys who are normally more exciting were off last night (spencer fischer & Karo parisyan)
I guess we all wanted to believe in Houston but in all honesty it was only a matter of time before his train was derailed. His window of success is small because of his age and his bruising almost street style has no real key fundamentals as his like a beetle when on his back.Oh well..
I never thought I would ever say this, but my interest in MMA is now at an all time low.......I really am not interest in UFC now, which is sad, i've been a fan for ages.
I said this would happen when the UFC bought PRIDE.Now there is no major competition everyone is crying out on Sherdog saying they miss PRIDE.Competition is always healthy for any business model. The UFC holds all the cards and Dana is simply free to do as he pleases. Last nights card was nothing more than a UFN card.To think that 2 TUF guys were the main event on a PPV is truly astonishing.Dana continually berated boxing saying boxing put on weak events and there events were stacked. But now the UFC has turned a full 360 and they themselves are only interested in making the big bucks. Its not surprising to note that not one of those fighters on last nights card probably made anything more than $100,000. My personal interest in MMA has waned greatly as the fights are getting less and less interesting. The best fighters are either in the UFC or randomly splintered amonsgt a plethora of minor orgs.Even Heroes appeals to me more but there shows are rare and hard to get hold of.Elite XC are trying there hand but they boast only mid carders from the UFC, and a bunch of guys no ones never heard of.Dam shame but as iv said already i think MMA`s star may have already burnt out.
Bisping v Evans - that's treating the fans like mugs. Everyone thinks they still need to rematch their last opponents before doing anything else. I agree with Scur, Dana always berated boxing but I'm sure he totally overlooks his bad spots.
What would have made more sense was Hamil Bisping 2 and Evans Tito 2 on the same card.Which would preferably have been on Spike as a regular UFN card. Then the next UFC card could have been in the new year and had more names on it.UFC80 and UFC 79 should have been combined into a supercard. As both are very thin on the ground. The only good thing about 79 is Wandy Silva (even though this bout is 4 years too late) and Soko Machida and Serra Hughes. But the following card in Newcastle is absolute trash.Penn headlines against Joe Stevenson and Gonzaga Werdum is essentially a co main eventer?!?!? It begs the question why is Dana even bothering.
I had to only pay 7 bucs cover charge to get into the bar to see the fights, so I really cant complain. The fights werent the best to say the least, Evans didnt perform well at all IMO, and just barely won that fight. Did anyone else think the Alexander fight was stopped a little prematurely?
This year has been a bust for the UFC imo. Anderson Silva is the only shining star.. and he's in a weak division. Whats really pissing me off is how long we've had to wait for Serra/Hughes. Which inturn makes us wait forever for a GSP fight. They should NOT put a belt on hold for a ****ing reality show. It's complete bull****. Sean Sherk steroid case is crippling the LW division. No LHW can even get a win streak going long enough to warrant a shot at Rampage. They missed out on Fedor and now theres the whole Randy Couture situation. And it really pisses me off that I havent seen BJ Penn vs Matt Hughes III yet.
no, I didn't exactly say that, i usually get the ppv's with 4 or 5 guys so I'm not paying 40$ myself which I would have not done for this event. In fact it was easily the worst main event ever. But we knew this was a lame card going in so steadily complaining and beating a dead horse get's old after a while.
